Singles Parties, March 25-28, 2008

All was well this past week with our three parties. An unexpectedly large crowd came out on a Tuesday night, March 25, at our Singles Mixer at Archipelago Restaurant in Burlingame. The decor of this restaurant is terrific, and the appetizers served were delicious.

The first-ever Young Single Professionals Party in the East Bay, on Thursday, March 27, was at Trader Vic's. It was a success, so we will do more in the East Bay. Previously we were only holding YSP parties in SF-Peninsula-Silicon Valley. I guess it was the right time to expand... Our next YSP party will be on Saturday, April 19 at Roe Night Club in San Francisco. 160 singles attend our last YSP party there.

We concluded the week with our annual Bay Area Flirting Convention, Friday, March 28, at the Four Points by Sheraton in San Rafael. Big crowd, great party. Our keynote speaker, Francesca Gentille, delighted the audience. Nothing but compliments about her keynote. DJ Darryl K spun his usual magic on the dance floor, which was packed all night! Congratulations to Amber for winning the title of Ms Bay Area Flirt, and David, for winning the title of Mr Bay Area Flirt. There was a major feature story about our convention, including our upcoming party on April 26 at the Embassy Suites San Rafael, on the front page of the Lifestyle section of the Marin Independent Journal, on Tuesday, April 1.

We have another three parties scheduled for next week, beginning with the Mid-Life Singles Convention, Thursday, April 3, at the Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. This is the first-ever party for Mid-Life Singles in Sonoma County. Should be a big crowd.

On Friday, April 4 we are sponsoring a special Singles Party at Hard Rock Cafe, preceding the performance of Insignificant Others, a musical comedy, at Theatre 39 at Pier 39 in San Francisco. The party at the Hard Rock, including free food and favors, is free to all singles who prepay for a ticket to the performance upstairs at Theatre 39.

We conclude next weekend with our Spring Night Delight, Saturday, April 5, at Sinbad's Restaurant, right along the water, next to the famous Ferry Bldg in San Francisco. We are co-sponsoring with Singles Supper Club. The place will be packed!

Singles Parties, March 13-21, 2008

Only 4 parties over the past two weeks, as I was very busy doing my taxes. We return to our usual schedule of 3 parties per week, beginning this coming Tuesday, March 25.

Our first-ever party at Nicolino's in Sunnyvale on Tuesday, March 13, had ample and delicious food! Good party, but less attendance than expected. Excellent turnout at our Lock & Key & Dance at the San Mateo Marriott on Saturday, March 15.

Our annual Singles Mixer at the Hilltop Cafe at Novato on Thursday, March 20, was very crowded, with lots of new people. I guess our advertising in the North Bay is working!

We ended the two-week period with a below-average attendance at our Tri-Valley Singles Convention on Saturday, March 21. Lisa Altalida, author of Dating Boot Camp gave a terrific Keynote Address.

Next week's parties begin at a new restaurant on Tuesday night, March 25. Archipelago Bistro in Burlingame is gorgeous.

Speaking of gorgeous, our Young Single Professionals Polynesian Tiki Party on Thursday, March 27, is at the spectacular Trader Vic's in Emeryville.

We conclude next week with the annual Bay Area Flirting Convention, Friday, March 28, at the Four Points by Sheraton in San Rafael. Last year's Flirting Convention (at the San Mateo Marriott) attracted a big crowd. We are hopeful the same will happen this year. Francesca Gentille, who flirted with the world's top flirts (The Italians!) will deliver the Keynote Address on "Flirting... Italian Style," followed by a Contest for the Flirting Championship of the Bay Area, followed by a Dance Party with popular DJ Darryl K.

Singles Parties, March 4-8, 2008

We had 4 parties this past week, with widely contrasting formats and locations.

The first was our FREE Singles Financial Planning Seminar and Social, on Tuesday, March 4, at the Embassy Suites San Rafael. Tom Pattinson, CSA, gave an enlightening seminar on "Don't Run Out Money When You Retire." Our singles appreciated Tom's advice, as well as the wine, food, and refreshments. Thanks, Tom! If you missed Tom's presentation, he is available for a free consultation at 415/883-1426. Or visit his website at www.TomPattinson.RetireRX.com.

On Thursday, March 6, we had our first-ever party at the legendary Trader Vic's Restaurant in Emeryville. Large crowd, great food and fun. We will be doing more parties at Trader Vic's, including a Young Single Professionals Mixer on March 27; and a Mid-Life Singles Mixer (TBA).

We had great plans for our first-ever Lady in Red/Men in Black Party at Tarragon in Sunnyvale on Friday, March 7. Unfortunately, our usual private banquet room upstairs was double-booked by the restaurant, so they moved us down to the first floor/main restaurant. It turned out to be a very good dance party, but some people were unhappy that we didn't have the room upstairs with the giant wooden dance floor. Hopefully the restaurant will not make this mistake again, as our singles love the upstairs banquet room! Many of our singles came earlier in the evening to share a Progressive Dinner (you change tables after each course). I heard nothing but compliments from everyone I spoke with about the food.

We concluded the week with our 2nd Annual Art & Wine Tasting Party on Saturday, March 8, at Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. This year's attendance was even larger than that of last year, so I guess our singles like this place! If you did not get a chance to attend, check out the art gallery on your own. It is huge and well worth exploring! Our next Art & Wine Tasting Party will be on Saturday, April 12 at our most popular art venue, California Modern Art Gallery in San Francisco.

Next week we only have two parties, beginnng with our first-ever at Nicolino's Garden Cafe in Sunnyvale on Thursday, March 13, 7-9pm. Only $10 at the door includes our fun Mixer Game, plus appetizers for those who arrive on time. If you want to come fashionably late, that's ok, but you may not get fed!

Also next we week we have our 2nd Annual Lock & Key & Dance at the San Mateo Marriott on Saturday, March 15. Last year's party was very well-attended, and we hope the same will be true this time.

Singles Parties, Feb 29 - Mar 1, 2008

What a great weekend of parties! We LEAPT into March by having two parties on Leap Day, Friday, Feb 29. Our Monterey Bay Singles Convention, postponed to Feb 29 because of the Storm of the Decade on January 4, was worth the wait! This time we had great weather... a great turnout... and a great party.

Also on Leap Day, we had our monthly Young Single Professionals Party at Lion and Compass in Sunnyvale. Disappointing turnout after the huge crowd that attended the last YSP Party, which was in San Francisco. Our next YSP party will be our first ever in the East Bay, at the legendary Trader Vics Restaurant in Emeryville on March 27.

Our annual Singles Charity Ball at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square, Saturday, March 1st, was the perfect way to start off the new month. What a humongous and well-dressed crowd! 100% of the money goes to The Seva Foundation to fight blindness. We raised over $11,000 that night, which will enable Seva to restore sight to approximately 220 blind people. If you did not get a chance to attend, perhaps you will consider sending your tax-deductible donation to The Seva Foundation, 1786 Fifth St., Berkeley CA 94710. It only costs $50 for Seva to finance a sight-restoring cataract surgery for one person in a poor country!

Thank you to the dozens of singles organizations who co-sponsored The Singles Charity Ball with us. A special thank you to City Dish for donating 300 discount cards to San Francisco's finest restaurants for the first 300 to arrive.

This coming week features FOUR fun events:

  • Tuesday, March 4 we host a FREE Singles Financial Planning Seminar & Social, with Tom Pattinson, "The Singles Retirement Guru." You won't want to miss Tom's invaluable insights and the socializing that follows, at San Rafael's Embassy Suites Hotel.
  • Thursday, March 6 we have a Singles Mixer for adults of all ages at Trader Vic's in Emeryville,. This is our first-ever party at this spectacular restaurant, and we're excited! This is such a great location we are doing a second party, as noted above, on March 27, for our younger group.
  • Friday, March 7. We've done Lady in Red and Men in Black parties in the past. For the first time we combine these two popular themes into one great dance party at Tarragon in Sunnyvale. This is co-sponsored with Singles Supper Club, so expect a large crowd.
  • Saturday, March 8. The Grand Finale for the weekend is our 2nd Annual Art & Wine Tasting Party at Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. This time we are adding a guided tour of this huge, AMAZING art gallery, and the opportunity to meet many of the artists, in addition to sampling some great wines from boutique wineries!
