2012 has started off with a BANG, with several terrific parties! The big one was our first-ever party at the renowned Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco on Jan 21. Humongous turnout. All night llong our singles thanked us for choosing such a lovely venue!

Marin Singles Convention, Jan 6, at Servino's Ristorante in Tiburon. Big crowd, entertaining talk by author Susan Bradley on Finding Drama-Free Love in 2012. We got lucky with the weather, with a clear night and lovely views of San Francisco and The Bay.
Wine Tasting & Dance, Jan 7, at Redux Nightclub in Walnut Creek. Good turnout, fun party.
Cougar Mixer, Jan 12, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Golf Club. Fun discussion of cougar dating, with just about everyone sharing their views and dating experiences.
Napa Valley Singles Convention, Jan 13, at Silo's Jazz Club in Napa. Big crowd (for a small town like Napa) and fun dance. I have received several requests to repeat this fun venue.
Friday the 13th Dinner Dance, Jan 13, at Los Gatos Lodge. Laura of Singles Supper Club, who ran this party, reports a good turnout and fun party.
Winter Night Delight Dance, Jan 14, at Grosvenor Hotel in South San Francisco. Below average turnout, but fun party regardless.

Next Friday, Jan 27, we are hosting a Match Your Key Dance at the Pleasanton Marriott. Then we move into Valentine's season, with six MEET YOUR VALENTINE parties:

Silicon Valley Meet Your Valentine Dance, Friday, Feb 3, at Michael's at Shoreline in Mountain View. Our annual party in Michael's ballroom is always well-attended. Co-sponsored with Singles Supper Club.
North Bay Meet Your Valentine Dance, Saturday, Feb 4, at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Our annual Valentine Party at this lovely hotel is always well-attended.
Meet Your Valentine Convention, Friday, Feb 10, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Burlingame. Huge crowd expected for this one, which features yours truly giving an entertaining talk on How to Meet Your Valentine in 2012, followed by dancing.
Valentine Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Feb 11, at Nieto Fine Art Gallery near Union Squar in San Francisco. Big crowd at our December party at this beautiful art gallery. Hopefully history will repeat itself!
Irish Valentines Day Party, Saturday, Feb 11, at Lilly Mac's, a fun Irish pub and restaurant in Downtown Sunnyvale. Our first-ever party at this fun Irish pub and restaurant. We have the entire place reserved for our party, both upstairs and downstairs, and accommodate a huge crowd! You need not be Irish to attend, but you might want to wear some green.
Valentines Day Mixer, Tuesday, Feb 14, at Crogan's at Montclair Village in Oakland. This trendy area is a great spot for our annual V-Day Mixer.

East Bay Singles Convention, our largest annual event in the East Bay, on Friday, Feb 17 at the Hilton Hotel's big ballroom in Newark/Fremont. Author, Sexologist, and Radio Personality Emily Morse gives a frank talk about a subject that is taboo to some, followed by dancing.

Golden Gate Yacht Club Dance, Friday, Feb 24, in San Francisco. We never fail to attract a massive crowd that this fun venue!

We ended 2011 with a bang, celebrating at 3 New Years Eve parties:

Pre-New Years Eve Dance, Friday, Dec 30, at Sheraton Palo Alto. Huge crowd. We wanted to repeat our NYE party on Dec 31 at this nice venue, but they were already booked for NYE. So we did the next best thing: a pre-NYE party. Good move.

North Bay New Years Eve Bash, Saturday, Dec 31, at the Flamingo Santa Rosa. Jim Spillane ran this party for us, as I was busy running the San Francisco NYE Bash (see below). Good turnout.

San Francisco New Years Eve Bash, Saturday, Dec, at Neptune's at Pier 39. Good turnout, especially for the optional Progressive Dinner that preceded the dancing. Great party, with DJ HickeyB! spinning our favorite hits.

OTHER PARTIES during this time period:

Single Millionaires Party, Tuesday, Nov 22, at Chevy's in Foster City. Not as big of a turnout as we usually get at our millionaires parties, but everyone enjoyed our speaker, Allen Hamm, on How Millionaires Get There and Stay There. Good appetizers from Chevy's.

Tri-Valley Singles Convention, Saturday, Nov 26, at the Pleasanton Marriott. Big crowd.

SF Holiday Dance, Friday, Dec 2, at the world-famous Hard Rock Cafe (at Pier 39 in San Francisco). Ok turnout, not as big as expected.

North Bay Holiday Party, Saturday, Dec 3, at Kodiak Jacks in Petaluma. Decent turnout.

Young Single Professionals Holiday Party, Thursday, at Roux Louisiana Kitchen at Santana Row in San Jose. Disappointing turnout, despite nice location, free parking, appetizers, dancing, only $10 admission. Don't know why we didn't attract a larger crowd...

Holiday Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Dec 9, at Hyatt Regency Hotel Burlingame. Good turnout. Lovely ballroom.

Marin Holiday Dance, Saturday, Dec 10, at Nourish at Harbor Point, Mill Valley. Big crowd, great party. Harbor Point used to be THE place to meet singles, especially with the Pacific Sun doing several singles parties per year. When The Sun stopped the parties, everyone forgot about this lovely waterfront location. We hope to do more parties here!

Marin Christmas Dance, Friday, December 16, at Embassy Suites Hotel San Rafael. Surprisingly good turnout, since we did a dance in Marin just 6 days earlier (see above).

Christmas Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Dec 17, at Nieto Fine Art Gallery near Union Square in San Francisco. Beautiful new venue! Nice turnout.

Benicia Yacht Club Christmas Dance, Friday, Dec 23. Our first-time at this great waterfront venue! Quite a turnout! Hope to do this yacht club again soon in the New Year.

East Bay's first-ever Single Millionaires Party, Thursday, Dec 29, at EBGB The Underground Bar at Montes. Despite the location in West Oakland, big turnout and great party. Most people stayed after the official end of the party, they were having so much fun! Beautiful interior. Some people didn't come because they are afraid of West Oakland, but it was a safe neighborhood and we have been invited back.

JANUARY is always a big month for singles parties, since the #1 New Years Resolution singles have (other than losing weight) is finding a romantic partner. We have just the lineup of parties you need to fulfill that resolution!

Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 6, at Servino's Ristorante in Tiburon. Always a huge crowd at this, the largest gathering of romantic eligibles each year in Marin Special treat this year: author Susan Bradley reveals How to Find Drama-Free Love in 2012, followed by Dance Party, with spectacular view of the SF Skyline and Bay!

Wine Tasting & Dance Party, Saturday, Jan 7, at Redux, Walnut Creek's hottest nightclub.

Beyond Demi & Ashton: The Future of Cougar Relationships Party, Thursday, Jan 12, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Golf Course. It's been a while since our last cougar party, so we are overdue!

Napa Valley Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 13, at Silo's at the historic Napa Mill. This will be the largest gathering of singles in the Napa area for 2012. Very nice nightclub along the Napa River! Author Jeannine Kaiser will give an entertaining talk, followed by dancing.

Lucky Friday the 13th Dance at Los Gatos Lodge. It will be your lucky day if you attend this party at a lovely venue.

Winter Night Delight, Saturday, Jan 14, at Grosvenor Hotel (Best Western) in South San Francisco. Several years since we have done a party at this well-located hotel right off Hwy 101.

An Elegant Evening at the Fairmont, Saturday, Jan 21, in San Francisco. First-ever singles party at this world-renowned hotel! We are in the Gold Ballroom, with spectacular chandeliers and view of the Bay. Dance to your favorite hits.

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Jan 27, at the Pleasanton Marriott. Hopefully another big crowd, like we had on Nov 26!

The rain sure didn't keep our singles away during the wet Nov 18-19 Weekend! Both of our events were extremely well-attended:

Friday, Nov 18, Second Harvest Food Bank Fundraiser, at David's at the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Center. We raised $5,400 for the hungry! Congratulations to Laura of Singles Supper Club, who organized this one with us.

Saturday, Nov 19, Singles Extravaganza, at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. Great crowd, great party.

HALLOWEEN is always the best theme for a singles party, so we did two of them, as we do every year. Both were very well attended and had great costumes and great energy! Congrats to all of our costume winners.

Old School Dance, Oct 7, at W Hotel in Newark. Tough to get a big turnout when we compete against ourselves with another party on the same night! Decent turnout.

Interracial Dating Convention, Oct 14, at the San Mateo Marriott. Nobody has ever done one of these before, so we didn't know what to expect. Good turnout, lots of new faces.

Sonoma Wine Country Tasting & Party, Oct 16, at Keating Wines in Sonoma. Nice turnout, fun party.

Match Your Key Dance, Oct 21, at Neptune's at Pier 39 in San Francisco. Good turnout, clear night, terrific views!

NOVEMBER will be a busy month, with 9 fun parties!

Art & Wine Tasting Party, Friday, Nov 4, at Room Fine Art Gallery in San Rafael. Many of our singles have been complaining that we haven't done an art gallery wine tasting in many months, so here it is!

Golden Gate Yacht Club Dance, Saturday, Nov 5, in San Francisco. Normally we only two parties per year at this lovely venue, the Home of the America's Cup, but due to popular demand we are doing a third party at GGYC in 2011!

Champagne Social, Friday, Nov 11, at Parc 55 Wyndham Hotel in San Francisco. Our singles love this venue, so we are doing our third Champagne Party at this upscale hotel!

Sadie Hawkins Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, Nov 12, at the Crystal Ballroom at Hotel Shattuck Plaza. This is the one day of the year where women can go for what they want! Normally at these parties the men are given keys and seek out the right woman with the right lock. Tonight we reverse the rules. Should be fun!

Sadie Hawkins Day Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 15, at Hilltop 1892 in Novato. Sadie Hawkins comes every Nov 15 (not Feb 29), so we had to do a second Sadie-themed party. This is our annual party at this lovely historic restaurant, which is always well-attended.

Second Harvest Fundraiser Dance, Friday, Nov 18, at David's at Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. All of the proceeds go to feeding the poor!

Singles Extravaganza, Saturday, Nov 19, at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. Our largest party of the Fall Season! Big crowd every year.

Single Millionaires Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 22, at Chevy's in Foster City. Our first two parties with this theme were well-attended, so we are doing a third. This time we are at Chevy's for the very first time!

Tri-Valley Singles Convention, Saturday, Nov 26, at the Pleasanton Marriott. We've neglected the San Ramon/Amador, Livermore valleys for a full year. We make up for it tonight!

Blue Jean Ball, Friday, Sep 16, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. Good turnout. Some of the ladies had great blue jean outfits!

National Singles Week Celebration, Thursday, Sep 22, at First Street Cafe in Benicia. Not as large of a crowd as we usually get at our annual party at this nice restaurant.

Single Millionaires Dance, Saturday, Sep 24, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Good turnout for our first ever dance with this theme. We are exploring the possibility of doing a Single Millionaires Cruise. Anyone interested? Where would you want the cruise to go?

Fall Night Delight, Thursday, Sep 29, at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos. Ok turnout, but not as big as usual due to our scheduling of another event in nearby Palo Alto for the following night.

SinglesFest, Friday, Sep 30, at Club Illusions in Palo Alto. Nice turnout. This was a last minute party we scheduled only because of the late invitation by the nightclub manager. Would not have scheduled the party, since we already had a Silicon Valley party on the previous (Thursday) night, but didn't want to let the opportunity pass us by to do a party at the Silicon Valley's premiere nightclub! These opportunities don't come every day.

Salsa Dance, Saturday, Oct 1st, at Tatami Multi Arts in El Cerrito. My friend Joel Koosed of The Meeting Game asked me to promote this party for him. He wanted some new blood. Apparently our singles are not that crazy about salsa, because it was a poor turnout. I guess our singles preferred our 90s party on the same night (see below).

90s Dance, Saturday, Oct 1st, at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Great party! Loved those terrific hits from the 90s. Definitely will do this theme again. One lady emailed me asking "Are we already getting nostalgic about the 90s? Guess so.

OCTOBER PARTIES

Old School Dance, Friday, Oct 7, at the W Hotel in Newark. The hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s are a popular radio format nowadays, so we decided to devote an entire evening to them!

Champagne Social, Friday, Oct 7, at the Parc 55 Wyndham Hotel in San Francisco. Here we go again, two parties again on the same night. One of my rules is to schedule at least one dance party every weekend of the year. I just couldn't get a good location for a party on Saturday night this weekend (October is a big month for the hotels), so I had to schedule two Friday night parties this weekend.

Interracial Dating Convention, Friday, Oct 14, at the San Mateo Marriott. This is America's first. Should be fun!

Sonoma Wine Country Party & Tasting, Sunday, Oct 16, at Keating Wines in Sonoma. Nice venue for a party. Only $10 includes wine tasting and appetizers!

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Oct 21, at Neptune's at Pier 39. We did three parties earlier in the year at this wonderful location, with spectacular views. Couldn't get the venue during the Summer, because that is their busy season with tourists.

2 Halloween Costume Parties & Dances, Friday, Oct 28 at Embassy Suites Hotel San Rafael; and Saturday, Oct 29, at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame. Our Halloween parties are always our best parties of the year, so we always do two on the Friday and Saturday before Halloween. The theme attracts a big crowd.

Salsa Mixer & Dance, Thursday, Sep 1, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. Smaller turnout than usual for our annual Salsa Party. Possibly because we had another SF party the next night and our singles didn't want to attend both, so they chose the Friday party instead of the Thursday party...

Champagne Social, Friday, Sep 2, at Parc 55 Wyndham Hotel in San Francisco. Good turnout for the first of what we hope will be a monthly First Friday Social at this lovely hotel, with spectacular views from the 31st Floor Club Room. Alas, the view was NOT spectacular tonight, as it was a very foggy evening. Hopefully the view will be better at our next Champagne Social, Friday, Oct 7.

Name Your Price Dance, Sunday, Sep 4, at Pasta Pelican in Alameda. Big crowd. Not surprising, since it was our first-ever Name Your Price Dance. It was great to have our singles who have been hardest hit by the bad economy at the party, as well as our more prosperous singles! Great party.

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Sep 9, at David's at Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Nice turnout.

Demi vs Madonna Cougar Party, Saturday, Sep 10, at 111 Minna Gallery & Nightclub in San Francisco. Good turnout, and everyone had fun with deciding whether they preferred Demi or Madonna. Unfortunately the wall separating our party from the larger party on the other side was opened at 10pm, as was promised to me, so we were without a Live DJ (we could hear from the other side, but couldn't see him), so I wound up hiring a DJ on the spot and he was able to get the dancing to Live DJ going shortly after 10pm. Sorry about that.

UPCOMING PARTIES

Blue Jean Ball, Friday, Sep 16, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. Should be a big crowd, since we are only doing one party this week (instead of the three we did the previous week). Our singles love to show off their best pair of blue jeans at this fun dance party at an upscale hotel!

National Singles Week Celebration, Thursday, Sep 22, at First Street Cafe in Benicia. We are the official sponsor of National Singles Week each year throughout America, and our annual celebration is always fun.

Singles Dance with Millionaires, Saturday, Sep 24, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Last month's Single Millionaires Mixer was extremely well-attended (on a Thursday night!), so we expect quite a crowd for the first-ever Single Millionaires DANCE, on a Saturday night!

Fall Night Delight Mixer & Live Band Dance, Thursday, Sep 29, at Number One Broadway Nightclub in Los Gatos. It's been quite a while since our last party at this fun nightclub, so we are hoping for a great turnout, especially since The Second Story Band will play many of our favorite classic hits!

90s Dance, Saturday, Oct 1, at Embassy Suites San Rafael. We've done 60s Dances, 70s Dances, and 80s Dances. It's about time that we do our first dance featuring the great hits of the 1990s!

Salsa Dance & Lesson, also on Saturday, Oct 1, at Tatami Multi-Arts in El Cerrito. It is extremely rare for us to do two dances on the same night, but my friend Joel Koosed of The Meeting Game asked me to co-sponsor. I thought our East Bay Singles would enjoy our first-ever Salsa party on their side of the Bay!

Large crowds for all three of parties over the past two weeks!

A Touch of Class Dance, Friday, Aug 19, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Burlingame. We were worried about this party, because unfortunately Stanford Bachelors scheduled a party for the same night (without checking to see that we already had scheduled ours) and we had a huge ballroom to fill. We needn't have worried, as we had a very nice turnout. What a spectacular ballroom! We hope to do many more parties at The Hyatt.

Single Millionaires Party, Thursday, Aug 25, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Golf Course. Usually Thursday night parties don't attract 150 people! This party went so well, we have scheduled the next one for Saturday, Sep 24, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. This time, since it's on a weekend, we will have dancing follow our entertaining speaker, Allen Hamm.

North Bay Singles Convention, Friday, Aug 26, at Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. Again, we were concerned, because we had a huge ballroom to fill, but our largest annual event in the North Bay lived up to its billing. Nice turnout, entertaining talk from Karen Brody, and a great Dance Party with DJ Slick.

UPCOMING PARTIES:

Salsa Mixer, Lesson, & Live Band Dance, Thursday, Sep 1, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. This is the largest salsa nightclub in Northern California and always attracts a big crowd, even on a Thursday night!

Champagne Social, Friday, Sep 2, at Parc 55 Wyndham Hotel in San Francisco. This is the first of what we hope will be a monthly social, featuring Champagne and the singles who love it! You can't beat the view from the 31st Floor Club Room.

Name Your Price Dance, Labor Day Sunday, Sep 4, at Pasta Pelican Restaurant in Alameda. Your read correctly: name your price, the first-ever singles dance where YOU decide how much you pay. Should be a big crowd, since EVERYONE can afford this party and most people DON'T go away on Labor Day Weekend, and are eager to celebrate the holiday!

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Sep 9, at David's Restaurant at Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Our last Match Your Key party at this lovely restaurant attracted quite a crowd. Hopefully history will repeat itself!

Our annual Baby Boomers Bash, Friday, July 29, at Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley. Even more showed up than at last year's bash at the same boutique hotel.

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, August 5, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. Debby and I missed this party. We were escorting the Grand European Singles Tour, four countries in 10 days. Great trip! Lots of other fun singles tours and cruises are available on our travel website. While we were gone, Jim Spillane and Patrick Dalal ran our first-ever dance party at this lovely waterfront restaurant. Big crowd, lots of positive feedback.

Bay Area Flirting Convention, Friday, July 15, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City. Author Susan Bradley, as always, was most entertaining, as she led us on a Flirting Safari. Congratulations to Ed Zelznick of Menlo Park, who won the title of Mr Bay Area Flirt; and to Genevieve Yu of San Mateo, who won the title of Ms Bay Area Flirt. They have been featured several times by the local news media. Good turnout.

Now, for the first time, we are doing a large dance party in the private banquet room in the back of the restaurant, with excellent views!

Golden Gate Yacht Club Dance, Friday, August 12, in San Francisco. We had to postpone this party, originally scheduled for June 11, because of a water main break at the yacht club. This party is worth the wait! Always a great turnout at this popular venue.

Matchmaking Party, Friday, June 3, at Embassy Suites San Rafael. Author Martin Ucik of Singles2Couples conducted matchmaking games, which allowed everyone to discover with whom they were most compatible at the party! Entertaining, broke the ice. Then a fun Dance Party with DJ Darryl K. We hope to have Martin do a similar party for us in San Francisco later this summer.

Dance by the Bay, Saturday, June 11, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Late Monday afternoon, June 6, I got a call that the water main at Golden Gate Yacht Club had burst, causing major flooding and the shutdown of this popular venue. As luck would have it, I had just put 2,000 postcards in the mail that morning, first class (at a cost of 35 cents per postcard, including mailing and labor costs). We were able to make lemonade out of lemons, however, as we fortunately had Sinbad's, a popular restaurant on the San Francisco waterfront, available at the last minute for our party. Unfortunately some of our 12,000 singles on our party database didn't open up their email from me with the change of location, so they wound up going to GGYC first, then drive down to Sinbad's. Even worse, there was HORRENDOUS traffic across both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge. A few of our singles had to drive two hours to get to the party. With all this adversity, you could have predicted a disastrous turnout, but you would be wrong. We had a very good crowd and a fun dance party, thanks to DJ Extraordinare Miguel, coming out from Las Vegas to spin our favorite dance hits.

We raised $7125, which will allow The Seva Foundation to restore sight to approximately 143 blind people! If you were unable to attend, please donate on The Seva Foundation website.

Just got back from New York City, where I produced the 3rd Annual National Cougar Convention, at Mahattan's ecologically-friendly Greenhouse Nightclub. Aalsa Lee, 73 years old, was crowned Miss Cougar America! Nice turnout. The news media also attended in force and wrote features stories about the convention on The Atlantic Magazine, New York Post, CBS New York, and NBC New York websites. While I was out of town, Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club hosted our Singles Weekend in the Silicon Valley, at the Sheraton Palo Alto. Friday night's dinner/dance was lightly attended. Saturday night was the big party.

Huge crowd at the Japan Quake Relief Fundraiser on Saturday, April 16, at Club Illusions in Palo Alto! Terry Hawkins, who produced the party, says that over $9,000 was raised, which will be donated to the American Red Cross. Congrats to Terry! The next fundraiser will be our annual Singles Charity Ball on Lucky Friday the 13th of May, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. We raised over $12,000 last year, which enabled The Seva Foundation to restore sight to approximately 263 blind people!

Treading water is not fun. That's what it feels like, with so many of our parties happening on cold rainy nights when anyone with any sense would just stay home. Many of our singles like to plan ahead and invite their friends to accompany them to the parties. Since the meteorologist is usually projecting rain, even when the rain DOESN'T materialize, the damage is still done. People don't call their friends, the word doesn't get around, and attendance suffers.

Despite all this, most of our parties during one of the wettest rainy seasons in 20 years have attracted decent crowds. When the sun finally comes out for good, we expect a lot of our singles to return in large numbers!

Our most popular party during this wet period was our annual Silicon Valley Singles Convention on Friday, March 25. We chose a new venue, the spectacular Corinthian Grand Ballroom in San Jose. Normally I shy away from doing parties in downtown San Jose, which many people shy away from, for some reason... I don't know why, as there is lots of free street parking in the evenings, after all the businesses close. In this particular case, we had a huge turnout and people loved this spectacular venue. You have to see it to believe it. We hope to do more parties at the Corinthian.

Annual Advanced Degrees Mixer, Thursday, Feb 24, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Despite the rain, lots of new faces.
Singles Black & White Ball, Saturday, Feb 26, at Ondine in Sausalito. Perfect weather for viewing the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay! A bit cold, however. Huge crowd, and they loves this spectacular venue!
Waterfront Mixer, Tuesday, March 1, at Tolay Restaurant at Sheraton Hotel in Petaluma. What a lovely spot for a fun party!
Golden Gate Yacht Club Dance, Saturday, March 5, in San Francisco. Huge crowd, despite the rain!

Young Single Professionals Dance, Friday, March 11, at Intramuros in South San Francisco. Big crowd expected for this large, lovely nightclub.
Welcome Spring Dance, Saturday, March 12, at W Hotel in Newark. Yes, we need the rain, but we're all ready for some sunny Spring weather! This is an upscale hotel, with a comfy "Living Room" to socialize, plus a large banquet room for dancing.
St Patricks Day Party, Thursday, March 17, at Azul Restaurant in San Francisco. Celebrate St Paddy's Day with a fun Mixer Game, appetizers, and dancing!

Singles Parties, February 11 - 19, 2011

Our Valentine's Dance, Friday, Feb 11, at Michael's at Shoreline Park, attracted a huge crowd. Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club, our co-sponsor, ran the party, as Debby and I were producing the Meet Your Cougar Valentine Convention on Saturday, Feb 12 in Costa Mesa. The convention was covered by the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, and Orange County Weekly. It's rare to have three major newspapers cover a singles event, so we were most pleased.

Jim Spillane ran our Valentines Day Mixer, Monday, Feb 14, at the Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa (while Debby and I celebrated V-Day at Yosemite--it was gorgeous, and we beat the rain and snow!) Jim reports a fun group that mostly stayed after our mixer was officially over, to enjoy karake and dancing with DJ Bobby. Lots of new faces.

Also on Valentine's Day, the Contra Costa Times and many of its affiliated daily newspapers ran a front page story about our singles parties. Great publicity!

Will it ever stop raining? Yes, I know we need the water, but why did it have to come down, seemingly in buckets, during our Puma Party on Friday, Feb 18, at Neptune's at Pier 39 in San Francisco? Congratulations to Nancy Peccorini of Foster City, who was crowned the first-ever Miss Bay Area Puma. She won a free week at Hedonism II Resort & Spa in Jamaica during International Cougar Week, March 27 - April 2.

Our Match Your Key Dance on Saturday, Feb 19, at Intramuros in South San Francisco was a great party. Our singles loved the ambience of this fun nightclub, and the giant screen to view some terrific music videos! We will do another party at Intramuros, this time for our Young Single Professionals, on Saturday, March 19.

Solano Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 28, at the Marriott Hotel in Vallejo. Disappointing turnout, maybe everyone was waiting for the big one in the East Bay the following Friday...
Cougar Valentine Party, Saturday, Jan 29, at 111 Minna in San Francisco. Fun venue! The San Francisco Weekly covered the party and featured photos on their website.
MidLife Valentine Mixer, Tuesday, Feb 1, at Ristorante La Toscana in San Rafael. Nice turnout, featuring SF Examiner Dating expert Annie Gleason.
Meet Your Valentine Convention, Friday, Feb 4, at the Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. Excellent crowd. They enjoyed our Keynote Speaker, author Tana Marie, on "How to Meet Your Valentine in 2011."
Valentine Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Feb 5, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. Lots of new faces at this fun art gallery!

We have two more Meet Your Valentine parties:

Valentine Dance, Friday, Feb 11, at Michael's at Shoreline Park in Mountain View. Co-sponsored with Singles Supper Club. Should be an excellent turnout, as it is our only party over Valentine's Weekend.
Valentines Day Mixer, Monday, Feb 14, at The Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. Should be plenty of new faces, as the party is featured on KSRO Radio.

We are proud to present The World's First Puma Party, for Cougars-in-Training, Friday, Feb 18, at Neptune's at Pier 39 in San Francisco. Lovely views of the Golden Gate Bridge and The Bay! Singles Parties, January 4 - 22, 2011

Winter is always a great time for singles parties. No one wants to be single on Valentine's Day, so we usually get great turnouts at our parties in January and early February. So far, 2011 has not been an exception, as we have had some terrific attendance at many of our events this month.

New Years Resolutions Mixer, Tuesday, Jan 4, at Petar's in Lafayette. The place was packed, plus there was excellent live music.
Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 7, at Servino's in Tiburon. As always, big crowd for our annual party at this restaurant, with spectacular views of SF and the Bay!
Santa Cruz area Mixer, Wednesday, Jan 12, at Severino's at the Seacliff Inn, Aptos. Great crowd for a midweek party!
Winter in the Tropics Dance, Friday, Jan 14, at Trader Vic's at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. Very large crowd.
Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Jan 15, at Show Place Art Gallery in Berkeley. Nice turnout, which we needed, since this is a very large venue and would look empty if we didn't attract a crowd. This is a brand new art gallery and the perfect spot for a party, so we look forward to returning soon!
Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Jan 21, at Le Colonial in San Francisco. This was our first-ever party at this lovely restaurant, with a large dance floor and excellent DJ (Eddie). We hope to return.

Of course not all of the parties work out as planned. Our Singles Lesson & Dance on Jan 22 at Dance Boulevard in San Jose had a nice turnout for the fun Hustle Dance Lesson, then half the women went home, leaving some guys with no one to dance with. It was a shock to see so many women leave so early. Granted we had no alcoholic beverages (dance studios never have liquor licenses, so we had FREE non-alcoholic refreshments instead), but you would think our single women would enjoy the opportunity to meet men who were totally sober. I guess not. Miles Ogata and staff did a great job of teaching and I recommend their studio if you would like to learn how to dance!

Our upcoming annual East Bay/Solano Singles Convention, Feb 28, Marriott Hotel across from Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo features author Karen Brody on a provocative topic: "Seduction with Integrity," followed by Dance Party.

Singles Parties Over New Years Eve, 2010

Big turnouts for our 3 New Years Eve parties, despite the fear of rain:

Pre-New Years Eve Dance, Thursday, Dec 30, at Neptune's Palace at Pier 39 in San Francisco. Not everyone likes to go out on New Years Eve, so we did a party the night before. What a lovely venue. We look forward to more parties here.
New Years Eve Bash - North Bay, Friday, Dec 31, at Embassy Suites San Rafael. As always DJ Darryl K did a great job with songs and videos from our favorite artists.
New Years Eve Bash - Silicon Valley, Friday, Dec 31, at Sheraton Palo Alto. Last year's NYE bash was huge, but couldn't compare in size with the humongous crowd that came this year. DJ HickeyB! played the greatest Baby Boomer era songs of all time in the big ballroom, while DJ Tony led a spirited party of today's hottest hits in the smaller ballroom.

Next week features our first two parties of the new year:

New Years Resolutions Mixer, Tuesday, Jan 4, at Petar's in Lafayette. Sharing new years resolutions is a great way to meet new friends!
Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 7, at Servino's Ristorante in Tiburon. This is always the largest singles event of the year in Marin. This time we are guaranteeing that everyone who attends will find love in 2011, or your money back! Entertaining keynote is followed by a Dance Party, with a spectacular view of the San Francisco Skyline and the Bay, weather permitting.

Singles Parties, December 17-19, 2010

Despite the big storm, we had 3 fun parties, with good attendance:

Christmas Dance, Friday, Dec 17, at Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley. DJ Darryl K brought his popular videos of the songs we all love. Fun dance party in the elegance of The Crystal Ballroom.
Christmas Art & Wine Party, Saturday, Dec 18, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. The four wines I tasted were all top-notch. Lots of new, attractive faces at this party.
Sausalito Waterfront Mixer, Sunday, Dec 19, at Wellington's Wine Bar. We didn't have the gorgeous weather we had at last year's party, so the view was not stupendous. But it was a fun crowd that mingled well with each other.

Next week we have a monopoly. The only singles party in the Bay Area I've come across is our Eve of Christmas Eve Match Your Key Dance at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Concord. It's been a while since we've done a party at this hotel, because they were converting our usual party room into the Contra Costa Ballroom. We can't wait to see what it looks like! Since the next day is a holiday for most people (since Christmas falls on a Saturday, Friday is the legal holiday), so expect a big crowd on the Thursday before Christmas.

We celebrate 2011 with three parties the following weekend:

Pre-New Years Eve Dance, Thursday, December 30, at Neptune's Restaurant at Pier 39 in San Francisco. This is a new location for us, with a terrific view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin, and the Bay. As with last Thursday, Friday is a holiday, since New Years Day falls on a Saturday, so should attract a good crowd.
New Years Eve Bash - Silicon Valley, Friday, December 31, at the Sheraton Palo Alto. Last year's bash at this hotel attracted 400. We're hoping for another huge crowd!
New Years Eve Bash - North Bay, Friday, December 31, at the Embassy Suites San Rafael. Last year's bash at this hotel went great and we expect nothing less this year.

Cougar Holiday Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 30, at the Walnut Creek Marriott. Good turnout, lots of new faces. Amy Luna, the newly crowned Miss Cougar California, gave an excellent, no-holds barred presentation on "Cougar Sex & Dating."
Holiday Dance, Friday, Dec 3, at the Clarion Hotel SFO in Millbrae. While Debby and I were hosting the Miami Cougar Convention and Cougar Cruise to the Bahamas, Jim Spillane reports that our dance here in the Bay Area was well-attended and lots of fun. The Miami Cougar Cougar Convention received massive media coverage, including a brief segment on NBC's Today Show. The Cougar Cruise was well-attended (127 cougars and cubs) and high-spirited! Next Cougar Cruise will be in April on the Mediterranean. Next major cougar event will be International Cougar Week, March 27 - April 2, at Hedonism II in Jamaica! Young Single Professionals Holiday Mixer & Dance, Friday, Dec 10, at Kaama in San Jose. Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club reports a big crowd attended!
North Bay Holiday Mixer & Dance, Friday, Dec 10, at Kodiak Jacks at 256 North Events Center in Petaluma. Decent turnout, delicious appetizers, fun dance lesson. Surprisingly, only one person won our Mixer Game and was awarded a free copy of my book, A Good Man Is EASY to Find. Usually we have several winners. Alas, the mechanical bull at this fun County & Western Saloon was on holiday.

This coming weekend features three more parties:

Christmas Dance, Friday, Dec 17, at the lovely Crystal Ballroom of Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley. Should be well-attended, as always, with our annual Christmas Dance.
Christmas Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Dec 18, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. This is always our largest wine tasting party of the year! Be prepared for a packed crowd, as we are advertising on three radio stations: KOIT, KDFC, and The Wolf.
Sausalito Waterfront Mixer, Saturday, Dec 19, at Wellington's Wine Bar in Sausalito. If the weather cooperates, we will have a stunning view. This is a very large venue, which is appropriate, since our annual Sausalito Christmas Mixer always draws a big crowd!

Taxi Dance, Friday, November 19, at the Hilton Oakland Airport. Small turnout, due to rain and lots of accidents on the freeways causing heavy backups. But I still think the crowd should have been larger. Perhaps our singles didn't like the theme, Ladies Get Paid a Dime a Dance? I thought it was a cute theme.
California Cougar Convention, Saturday, November 20, at The Standard in Fresno. Fun event, lots of news coverage. We were on NBC's Today Show on Monday, Nov 15. Congrats to Amy Luna, Miss Cougar East Bay, who was crowned Miss Cougar California at the convention. She won a free vacation at Hedonism II in Jamaica during International Cougar Week, March 27 - April 2, 2011.
Sausalito Waterfront Single Mingle, Tuesday, November 23, at The Spinnaker. Great party, as always, at this wonderful location. It was a clear night, so we had a spectacular view of San Francisco and the Bay!
Thanksgiving Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, November 27, at David's Restaurant at the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Nice turnout, as is always the case with our annual Thanksgiving party.

Singles Parties, November 9 - 13, 2010

Our Singles Mixer at Hilltop 1892 in Novato on Tuesday, November 9 was a great way to celebrate the Grand Opening (Reopening) of this lovely historic restaurant. We enjoyed so many great parties in the past when the restaurant was known as The Hilltop Cafe. Tonight's party went well, despite a little rain and a shortage of parking. We look forward to many more.

Our annual Singles Extravaganza, Saturday, November 13, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco lived up to its billing! Great turnout, high energy dance party. Marc Rudov, our Keynote Speaker, did not disappoint those who were expecting a controversial, memorable address! We warned everyone that Marc was politically INCORRECT and that his views would offend some. The vast majority were willing to listen politely, many agreed with him, some asked questions or challenged him, and a few walked out. You can see why, after scheduling hundreds of speakers over the past 32 years at our singles events, that we regard Marc to be our most controversial speaker ever, by visiting his WEBSITE.

Taxi Dance, Friday, Nov 19, at the Hilton Oakland Airport. Taxi Dancing originated in the Bay Area in the 1920s and spread rapidly throughout the nation. Women get paid paid a dime a dance!
2nd Annual California Cougar Convention, Saturday, Nov 20, at The Standard in Fresno. We will crown Miss Cougar California 2010, who will win a free room at Hedonism II Resort & Spa in Jamaica during International Cougar Week. Last year's winner, Tyana Alvarado, was featured this year on Donald Trump's Apprentice TV Show.

Singles Mixer at Historic Pleasanton Hotel, Tuesday, Oct 26. We are happy to see this local landmark has reopened, so we can do more parties in downtown Pleasanton! Lots of new faces at this one.
Halloween Costume Party & Dance, Friday, Oct 29, at Hotel Sofitel in Redwood City. Huge turnout! Great costumes!
Halloween Costume Party & Dance, Saturday, Oct 30, at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Not as big of a crowd, but a fun party nevertheless.
MidLife Singles Mixer & Dance, Thursday, Nov 4, at Azul in San Francisco. We are happy to see this wonderful location has reopened, so we can continue doing our parties. Nice turnout. Annie Gleason of Get a Love Life! gave free 3 minute dating consultations.
SF Giants Victory Dance, Friday, Nov 5, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Normally we would not do two singles dances in San Francisco on consecutive days, but the MidLife party on Thursday night had already been promoted when the Giants won the World Series, so we had our celebration the following night.
Wine Tasting & Dance, Saturday, Nov 6, at Redux Nightclub in Walnut Creek. Nice turnout, great wines!

Next week features two more events:

Grand Reopening Party at Historic Hilltop 1892 Restaurant in Novato, Tuesday, Nov 9. We were so disappointed when this landmark restaurant closed a few years ago, since it has always been a popular venue for our singles mixers. The restaurant has been completely renovated and is gorgeous!
Singles Extravaganza, Saturday, Nov 13, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. This huge annual event has a controversial author giving the Keynote Address, followed by a giant Dance Party.

Only 4 singles parties over the past two weeks, as Debby and I went on a mini-vacation (three nights) to Mt Shasta and the Trinity Alps:

Romantic Evening Along the River, Friday, Oct 15, at the Sheraton Petaluma. Fun party, not a large turnout, but respectable. Hope to do another party at this lovely hotel. I have tried for years to do a party there, but this is the first time they said yes. Difficult to find affordable venues for parties that are also attractive as this one!
Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, Oct 16, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Another fun party at this popular waterfront venue!
Blue Jean Ball, Friday, Oct 22, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. That's 3 great parties in a row at this popular upscale hotel! Normally we ask singles to dress up for our parties at nice hotels, but tonight we loosened up and wore our finest blue jeans.
Santa Cruz Singles Convention, Saturday, Oct 23, at the Hilton Santa Cruz Scotts Valley. Well, we didn't get 170 people like we did at last year's convention, in the same lovely hotel. But we had a respectable turnout, considering we had to compete against the big storm and the exciting final game for the National League Pennant. Go Giants! Karen Brody gave another fine talk (she was also keynote speaker at this year's Silicon Valley Singles Convention) and DJ Tony played excellent music that kept the dance floor crowded.

Singles Mixer, Tuesday, Oct 26, at Farmer's Restaurant in Pleasanton. We did several parties in past years at the historic Pleasanton Hotel, which has been extensively remodeled. We look forward to partying in this renovated restaurant/lounge!
Halloween Costume Party & Dance, Silicon Valley, Friday, Oct 29, at Hotel Sofitel in Redwood City. Our last party at this upscale hotel attracted a big crowd and Halloween is a very strong theme, so we are hoping for a big crowd. We are co-sponsoring this party with Singles Supper Club.
Halloween Costume Party & Dance, North Bay, Saturday, Oct 30, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Our Halloween parties have always done extremely well at our favorite North Bay venue!

Wine Tasting & Live Band Dance, Thursday, Oct 7, at Number One Broadway Nightclub in Los Gatos. Good turnout, lots of new faces. The Joint Chiefs played some great dance music.
Saturday Night Fever Dance, Saturday, Oct 9, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Burlingame. Our first party since 1998 at this nice hotel. DJ Darryl K taught a fun Saturday Night Fever Hustle Dance lesson, then dazzled us with his great music and fun videos! The giant dance floor was crowded most of the night.

Singles Charity Ball, Friday, Oct 1, at the Crystal Ballroom at Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley. Thank you to all of you who donated to the Seva Foundation's Sight Project. Thanks to your generosity, Seva will be able to restore sight to dozens of poor people in Cambodia, East Africa, Tibet, etc. Fun party! While our singles obviously weren't interested in celebrating National Singles Week on a Tuesday night (see event above), they turned out in large numbes for our Dance Party! Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who ran the party, reports that it was a terrific event and people loved dancing to the great tunes spun by DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music.
Fall Night Delight Dance, Saturday, Sept 25, at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Nice turnout, great music and videos from DJ Darryl K.

What's Your Sign? Party, Wednesday, Sept 29, at the Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. This party has it all: dancing to your favorite hits; karaoke, astrological matchmaking, free readings. All for just $10! Should be a big crowd.
Singles Charity Ball, Friday, Oct 1, at the Crystal Ballroom at Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley. 600 singles attended our last Charity Ball, at the Westin St Francis in SF. While we certainly won't get that size crowd tonight, we sure are hoping for a big turnout. Remember, every $50 we raise restores sight to one blind person! 100% of your tax-deductible donation of $20 goes to the Seva Foundation to fight blindness. I am working for free tonight, as are everyone else helping with this party, except for the bartenders and DJ!
San Francisco Cougar Mixer, Saturday, Oct 2, at Maharani Restaurant. Our typical cocktail party, with free appetizers. Tonight we have a bonus: one cougar/cub couple, meeting for the first time at this party, may win a free Wedding Package during International Cougar Week, March 27 - April 2, 2011, at Hedonism II Resort in Jamaica! While Debby and I were taking a break in London, September 6-16, Jim Spillane ran three parties for us:

Young Single Professionals Mixer & Dance, Thursday, September 9, at Butter in San Francisco. Jim reports a very small turnout, due to construction work on the outside of this nightclub. Many people drove by, thinking the venue was closed, even though Jim had the door open. The owner had ordered some renovations, which were supposed to be finished by the date of our party, but obviously that wasn't the case.
Michael Jackson Dance, Friday, September 10, at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax. Better turnout than the previous night's party in San Francisco, but smaller than our past parties at this lovely venue. Perhaps we have worn out the Michael Jackson theme, since this is the smallest MJ dance we have thrown. The others have all been very well-attended. Jim reports those who came had a very nice time.
Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, Sept 11, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. Another big crowd, as always, at this fine hotel!

Young Single Professionals Mixer & Dance, Friday, Sept 17, at Bistro4Twelve in Palo Alto. Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club ran this party and reports a good turnout, and great food and music.
End of Summer Dance, Saturday, Sept 18, at the San Mateo Marriott. Good turnout. DJ Miguel of Startracks got the crowd jumping and our singles had a great time!

Miss Cougar East Bay Contest & Dance, Friday, Sep 3, at W Hotel in Newark. Nice turnout, great music from DJ Miguel of Startracks. We were featured on the news that night on KNTV NBC 3. Congratulations to Amy Luna Manderino, winner of the title of Miss Cougar East Bay! Amy received a free berth on the International Cougar Cruise in December, courtesy of Singles Travel Company.
Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Sep 4, at Art People Gallery at The Crocker Galleria in San Francisco. As always a wonderful venue for a party!

East Bay Single Mingle, Tuesday, August 24, at Alborz Restaurant in Walnut Creek. It was the hottest day of the year, so we were not able to enjoy the outdoor seating at this wonderful Persian restaurant. So we were indoors and had a fun party. Alborz shared their delicious appetizers with us.
Young Single Professionals Dinner & Mixer, Tuesday, August 24, at California Cafe in Los Gatos. Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club reported that it was also very hot in Los Gatos, but a good turnout regardless.
Wine Tasting Dance, Saturday, August 28, at Redux in Walnut Creek. We have been many parties over the years at this nightclub, which has changed names many times (Abernathy's, Echo, Groove, Spin). Congrats to the new owners, who remodeled the place. It is vastly improved! Fun group came to the wine tasting, then stayed for dancing to the greatest hits of all time.
Summer in the City Dance, Saturday, August 28, at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. Laura Lane of Singles Supper Club reports that we had our own party room for the first couple of hours, then had the sound wall removed so our party could merge with the other half of this large nightclub.

Our return to Pasatiempo (10 years after our lat party at this wonderful location) featured a fun mixer game and delicious appetizers. Not a big crowd (Santa Cruz is a small town), but a very nice party. The San Jose Mercury News and Santa Cruz Sentinel published feature stories about this event!
5th Annual Baby Boomers Bash, Friday, Aug 17, at Shattuck Plaza Hotel in Berkeley. Nice turnout, great party.
Singles Salsa Night, Thursday, Aug 19, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. Our annual party at Northern California's largest salsa nightclub featured a good turnout, lots of new faces, excellent salsa dance lesson, pizza, a fun mixer game, and an 8 piece salsa band!
Summer Ball, Friday, Aug 20, at David's Restaurant at the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Barbara Millin, of Singles Supper Club, who ran this party, reports a big crowd and popular dance lesson.

Contra Costa Singles Convention, Saturday, July 31, at the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. This event lived up to its hype, as a huge crowd assembled to enjoy the hilarious Hynotic Seduction Show by acclaimed master hypnotist John Farley. Dancing followed.

Astrological Matchmaking Party, Thursday, Aug 5, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Our annual party features Psychic Kathleen, who will only be able to do mini-readings for the earlybirds. Miss Cougar Marin Contest & Dance, Saturday, July 24, at Grille 101 at Embassy Suites Hotel San Rafael. Big crowd, fun party. Congratulations to Debra Wand, who was crowned Miss Cougar Marin. Read about Debra in the feature story later this week in the Marin Independent Journal! Debra won a free berth on the International Cougar Cruise, December 3-6, 2010, departing from Miami and visiting The Bahamas. Only $99 per person! Canadian Cougar Convention, Friday, July 9, at Tattoo Rock Parlour in Toronto. Huge crowd, massive media coverage from major newspapers all over Canada, plus numerous TV and radio interviews. Go onto our www.cougarevents.com to see some of the publicity.
Geeks & Gals Ball, Friday, July 9, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. While I was up in Toronto running the Canadian Cougar Convention (see above), Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club ran our co-sponsored our party in the Silicon Valley. Excellent crowd and DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music did another terrific job with the music.
Wine Tasting Party at Windy Hill Winery, Sunday, July 11, in Cotati. Nice turnout, great wine, fun party, terrific view!

Our Hot Summer Night Mixer, Tuesday, June 15, was at a new location for us, Izzy's in San Ramon. Lovely location, good appetizers, excellent live music, and a fairly good turnout. We would love to do this upscale restaurant again.

We also did a Waterfront Dance on Friday, June 18, at another new location for us, Fandorin Restaurant in Burlingame. Gigantic floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Bay made this an excellent venue for our party. Large dance floor, ample room to mingle, wonderful ambiance made this a popular party, with many compliments all night.

Jim Spillane hosted three parties while Debby and I were in Chicagoland hosting the National Cougar Convention (details below).

Summer Mixer, Tuesday, June 22, at First Street Cafe in Benicia. This party was extremely crowded. We like it that way, as it's easier to meet people if you literally are forced to bump into them. First Street Cafe is a very popular restaurant and all of our parties there have been well-attended, so we plan to return next year.
Match Your Key Dance, Friday, June 25, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Rafael. Smaller crowd than expected.
Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, June 26, at Art People at the Crocker Galleria in San Francisco. Another fine party at this beautiful art gallery.

Our National Cougar Convention, Saturday, June 26, at Embassy Suites O'Hare Airport, attracted a huge crowd, as well as NBC's Today Show and MTV, plus lots of photographers and reporters. Congratulations to Amy Roberts of Aurora IL for winning the crown of Miss Cougar America 2010. Amy won a free week at Hedonism II Resort & Spa in Jamaica; as well as a free berth on The International Cougar Cruise, December 3-6, 2010. Almost 100 cougars and cubs already signed up for this cruise, so don't hesitate to sign up before the inexpensive cabins sell out (only $99 for the cruise, per person, can you believe it!) We also had a local Cougar Dance on Thursday, July 1st, at Bliss Bar in San Francisco. Big turnout, including a TV crew filming a pilot for a possible cougar reality show. Michael Jackson Dance, Friday, June 4, at the Crowne Plaza Concord. This is the third party we have done exclusively focusing on the King of Pop's hits and videos. And just as much fun as the previous two! Well-attended.
Sausalito Waterfront Single Mingle, Sunday, June 6, at Wellington's Wine Bar. A beautiful day on the water was enjoyed by a big crowd.
Art & Wine Tasting Mixer, Tuesday, June 8, at Art People Gallery at The Crocker Galleria in San Francisco. This is the first time we have done this format, where we have a limited choice of boutique wines (only 4) with no food, on a weeknight. It was an experiment. The party went well and attracted a fair-sized crowd, so we will do more. Our standard Art & Wine Tasting Party, with 15-20 wines from which to choose, accompanied by appetizers, will be at the same art gallery on Saturday, June 26.
Silicon Valley Singles Convention, Saturday, June 12, at Hotel Sofitel in Redwood Shores. Our largest annual event in the area lived up to its billing, with a huge crowd! Karen Brody, "The Love & Intimacy Coach," gave a most entertaining keynote on Seduce with Integrity. It was a risky talk on a very sensitive subject, with both sexes enthralled. We will have Karen again. DJ Mike did his usual great job with the dance party.

Hot Summer Night Delight, Tuesday, June 15, at Izzy's in San Ramon. Our first-ever party at this this popular watering hole for singles! Singles Mixer & Back to the 80s Dance, Friday, May 28, at Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa. Thought we would attract a much larger crowd, since we had a strong theme. Perhaps our singles didn't like the 7pm starting time on a congested Memorial Day getaway? Thank you to Richard, Cory, and Katy for the live music. We had fun, though not a big turnout!
Bay Area Flirting Convention, Saturday, May 29, at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. Great turnout, our singles loved this iconic hotel! Author Susan Bradley gave another entertaining presentation about "How to Flirt Without Appearing to Be in Heat" and DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music played all of our favorite dance hits. Congratulations to David Weber of The Peninsula and Evelina Azarian of San Francisco for winning the titles of Mr & Ms Bay Area Flirt!

Silicon Valley Single Mingle, Thursday, May 20, at Faz Restaurant in Sunnyvale. Modest turnout, but lots of new faces. The appetizers were skimpy, unfortunately.
Singles Day at the Mountain Play, benefiting The Marin Symphony, Saturday, May 22, at the Cushing Memorial Ampitheatre atop Mt Tam in Mill Valley. Our singles thoroughly enjoyed the superb dress rehearsal of Guys and Dolls! What a terrific performance. The acting and music were first-rate. The weather forecast earlier in the week was for rain, but we lucked out and had beautiful sunny skies, with a spectacular view of San Francisco and the Bay. If you weren't able to join us at this lovely outdoor theater, there will be several more performances over the next few weeks. Don't miss it!
Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, May 22, at the Pleasant Marriott. Below average turnout at this usually popular venue for our parties. Everyone had fun, however, thanks to the terrific music provided by DJ Slick.

Singles Charity Ball, May 15, 2010

Over 600 singles attended our annual Singles Charity Ball, Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Westin St Francis Hotel in San Francisco. We raised $13,150, which will enable The Seva Foundation to restore sight to approximately 263 blind people, at an average cost of only $50 per surgery! If we had known in advance there was going to be such a massive crowd, we would have scheduled a larger ballroom, of course. It got a little hot and crowded!

If you did not get a chance to attend, you still can send your tax-deductible donation to The Seva Foundation.

Earlier in the week we held our first-ever mixer at Max's Cafe in Corte Madera on Tuesday, May 11. Nice turnout, fun place. We hope to do another in a few months.

Monterey Cougar Convention, Saturday, May 8, at The Hippodrome in Monterey. Decent turnout, very attentive crowd during my keynote about why Younger Men/Older Women are the ideal combination. KSBW TV (ABC affiliate) covered the convention all night and will feature it during sweeps week! Congratulations to Cathy Anaya, 58, who won the title of Miss Cougar Monterey Bay and a free berth on the International Cougar Cruise, December 3-6, departing from Miami and visiting The Bahamas. Thank you to The Singles Travel Company for donating the prize!

Young Single Professionals Mixer & Dance, Friday, April 23, at Zen Lounge in Mountain View. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who hosted the event (we co-sponsored), reports a moderate-sized turnout.
Sacramento Cougar Convention, Saturday, April 24, at Marilyn's on K. Congratulations to Antoinette Ramirez, of Stockton, CA, for winning the title of Miss Cougar Sacramento and a free berth on The International Cougar Cruise. We had heavy media coverage, including three major TV stations (Fox, ABC, and NBC affiliates) and two radio stations (KFBK and KHYL). Next Cougar Convention will be in Monterey on May 8.

Sonoma Wine Country Mixer, Wednesday, April 14, at The Ledson Hotel in Dowtown Sonoma. What a gorgeous venue! The place was packed, the food was plentiful, many of our singles won free prizes for the Mixer Game, and the Live Music was terrific.
Tropical Nights Dance, Friday, April 16, at Lion & Compass in Sunnyvale. New DJ Randy Lira kept the dance floor full all night with a mix of today's hottest hits and the classic hits of the past, interspersed with a couple of dance lessons and a multiple partner dance set. Many of us shared a delicious progressive dinner before the music started.
32nd Anniversary Dance, Saturday, April 17, at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. We've come a long way since we started our parties in a San Rafael Church in 1978. Thanks to all who came to celebrate our anniversary. DJ Darryl K did another great job with his music and videos and the energy was high!

Sausalito Single Mingle, Tuesday, April 6, at The Spinnaker. We got lucky again, with a clear evening so we could view the spectacular San Francisco Skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay! Nice turnout, great appetizers.
Spring Fling, Friday, April 9, at the W Hotel in Newark. The evening began very slowly. About a dozen people who came early didn't come in, were disappointed that there weren't a lot of people yet. All good things come to those who wait... It would up being a good turnout, very nice party, with the dance party full once the party got rolling. Very nice venue for a party, with the party room comfortable for both those dancing and those watching on the comfortable sofas. Plus we had the very large "Living Room" adjacent to the bar, which was a great place for quiet intimate conversation.
Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, April 10, at Mary's Futons in San Rafael. A change of pace for us, as our wine tasting parties are usually in art galleries. It turned out to be a fun space for socializing and tasting some excellent wines! Next wine tasting party will be on May Day, Saturday May 1, at Art People Gallery in San Francisco.

Wine Tasting Dance Party, Saturday, March 27, at Fuz Restaurant in Lafayette. Good turnout. Unfortunately some of the songs DJ Slick played skipped a bit because the dance floor didn't absorb the shock of so many spirited dancers! We'll try to solve this problem next time.
Free Singles Travel Mixer, Sunday, March 28, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Ann Thomas of The Singles Travel Company co-sponsored with us and reports many singles attended who are eager to travel! The Great Recession has kept most people home, but Ann believes singles are now ready to break out.
Comedy & Dance Extravaganza, Friday, April 2, at the Clarion Hotel SFO in Millbrae. Lynn Ruth Miller, the world's oldest cougar, and Debbi Campo were hilarious as they discussed the trials and tribulations of dating! DJ Mike played his usual blend of great hits of the past and a few modern tunes.
Young at Heart Singles Mixer, Saturday, April 3, at Maharani Restaurant in SF. Small turnout, but we all had a great time!

Our first-ever Young at Heart Mixer, for singles 60+, Tuesday, March 2, at MARQS Restaurant in Menlo Park. We often do parties for Young Single Professionals (late 20s to early 40s), Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), and MidLife Singles (50+). We thought it was time to do one for those who are 60+. Nice turnout, great live music, excellent appetizers. Our next Young at Heart Mixer will be on Saturday, April 3, at Maharani Restaurant in San Francisco.
Seminar and Dance, Friday, March 5, at Poplar Creek Grill in San Mateo. Surprisingly low turnout for the seminar, with Boys Before Business author. Thought more of our women would take advantage of this free seminar. Fortunately it got a lot more crowded at 9pm for the Dance Party!
Young Single Professionals Mixer, Saturday, March 6, at Maharani in San Francisco. Nice turnout, lots of new and attractive faces, good appetizers.
Singles Night at Trader Vic's, Tuesday, March 9, in Emeryville. Good turnout, great appetizers.

Match Your Key Dance, Friday, Feb 26, at WPLJ's in Walnut Creek. Nice turnout, big pasta buffet, great DJ, high energy party.
Solid Gold Dance, Saturday, Feb 27, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. As usual, another fun party at Sinbad's! DJ Miguel spun his usual magic. The dance floor was packed all night. We lucked out with the weather--beautiful clear night with a full moon on the Bay!

Next week features three more parties:

Young at Heart Mixer, Tuesday, March 2, at MARQS in Menlo Park. This is our first-ever party for singles 60+. Hopefully we will attract a big crowd and do many more! Very nice, upscale restaurant, with Live Music.
Boys Before Business Seminar, followed by Dance Party, Friday, March 5, at Poplar Creek Grill at Coyote Point Golf Course in San Mateo. We've had big turnouts at our previous two parties at this fun venue. Hope history repeats itself! Two entertaining authors give a presentation for our women only at 7:30pm. At 9pm we open the doors for the men. Dance to your favorite hits.
Young Single Professionals Mixer, Saturday, March 6, at Maharani Restaurant in San Francisco. Our first YSP Mixer in quite a while, so should attract a crowd.

Valentine Dance, Friday, Feb 12, at Hotel Sofitel Redwood City. We were happy to return to this lovely hotel after a long hiatus. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who ran the party, reports a fairly large crowd, considering that we were competing that night with two large singles dances in the area.
Valentine Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Feb 13, at Art People Gallery at the Crocker Galleria in San Francisco. Usually we have a decline in attendance the second time we do a party at the same location, but we broke that trend with a larger crowd than last time! Guess our singles really like this beautiful art gallery! We hope to do another here soon. Patrick of Wine Socials ran this party, with Ida's help.
MidLife Singles Valentines Day Mixer, Sunday, Feb 14, at the Marriott Hotel Vallejo. Jim Spillane, who ran this party, reports a decent turnout and a fun party.
Mardi Gras Mixer, Tuesday, Feb 16, at the Walnut Creek Marriott. Ida, who ran this party, says it went well. But the attendance was less than we usually get at this popular hotel. Guess the Mardi Gras theme wasn't a big draw. Surprise.
Friday Night Fever Dance, Feb 19, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Rafael. Jim Spillane reports a good turnout and fun party, with DJ Darryl K spinning his usual magic!
Haiti Relief Singles Ball, Saturday, Feb 20, at David's Restaurant in Santa Clara. Barbara Millin reports a huge crowd! 100% of your tax-deductible donations went directly to Habitat for Humanity, to help rebuild Haiti after the disastrous earthquake. Thanks to all of you for helping us raise over $6,000! The party schedule has been so hectic, I haven't been able to update this blog. So here's the run down of our last 8 parties:

Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 22, at Servino's in Tiburon. Jim Spillane ran this party while I was in Las Vegas producing the Cougar Convention (see below). Jim reports a big crowd and that everyone loved DJ Mike Keating of Grand Slam Mobile DJ. Kathleen Sims gave an entertaining talk prior to the dancing.
Las Vegas Cougar Convention, Friday, Jan 22, at The Tropicana. Big crowd. Lots of news media covered this event, including ABC's Nightline, French TV, Univision, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Fox TV, etc.
Winter Night Delight Dance, Saturday, Jan 23, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club ran this one, and reports a very nice turnout and fun party.
East Bay Single Mingle, Friday, Jan 29, at the W Hotel in Newark. What a wonderful party space! The only complaint was the drinks were expensive. That's the price for attending a party at an upscale hotel. The rain cut down on our numbers, but it was fun anyway.
National Cub Convention, Saturday, Jan 30, at the Clarion SFO in Millbrae. Big crowd. Heavy news media coverage, including the San Mateo Times, which ran two big stories about us, reprinted by the San Jose Mercury News, Santa Cruz Sentinel, etc. KTVU Fox 2 TV also covered the convention. Congratulations to Eugene Lee, who won the title of Cutest Cub in America. His prize was a free berth on either of our upcoming Cougar Cruises, May 16-23 to the Mexican Riviera or Dec 3-6 to The Bahamas. Details at SinglesTravelCompany.com.
Singles Night at the Marin Symphony, Tuesday, Feb 2, in San Rafael. The Marin Symphony generously provided a party just for our singles prior to the performance, with complimentary wines from Jacuzzi and great appetizers. The Marin Symphony sure know how to throw a party, as well as provide marvelous music!
Valentine Mixer, Thursday, Feb 4, at Frantoio in Mill Valley. Pretty good turnout despite the heavy rain.
Meet Your Valentine Convention, Saturday, Feb 6, at The Claremont in Berkeley. Terrific crowd, dance floor was packed all night. Susan Bradley gave a very entertaining talk, "Meet Your Valentine Tonight!" DJ Slick did a great job of mixing up the music.

Haiti Relief Singles Ball, Saturday, Feb 20, at David's in Santa Clara. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly to Habitat for Humanity's rebuilding efforts in Haiti. The catastrophic earthquake reminds us how lucky we are here in the BayArea!

Two large successful parties this past weekend:

Wine Tasting Dance Party, Friday, Jan 15, at Zen Lounge in Mountain View. Even though we have done several parties over the past few years at this venue, I had never been to one, as Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club has always our parties there. I was most impressed by this lovely nightclub! Definitely hope to do more events at Zen!
Golden Gate Yacht Club Dinner Dance, Saturday, Jan 16, in San Francisco. Big turnout, despite the rain! I received numerous compliments all night about our DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music, who spins the tunes at so many of our parties.

Next weekend features three more fun events:

Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 22, at Servino's Ristorante in Tiburon. Every January this is the largest annual gathering of romantic eligibles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and expect nothing less this year!

Mixer & Dance, Friday, Jan 8, at Kodiak Jack's in Petaluma. Nice turnout, good food, fun crowd. The only complaints I got were that some people were intimidated that so many dancers were experienced in line dancing.
Match Your Key Dance, Saturday, Jan 9, at Fuz Restaurant in Lafayette. Formerly Joe's of Lafayette, the owners of this new restaurant did a nice job of renovating the party room. We had a big crowd! We will definitely do this restaurant again.
South Bay Mixer, Sunday, Jan 10, at Moorpark Hotel in San Jose. We had fun discovering everyone's New Years Resolutions! Great food provided by this boutique hotel. Unfortunately we had a bad ratio, as many of our men stayed home to watch the football games. Big mistake, as we had the games on the big screens.

Next week features only two parties:

Wine Tasting Dance, Friday, Jan 15, at Zen Lounge in Mountain View. Meet new friends who appreciate fine wine and fine dance music!

Pre-New Years Eve Dance, Saturday, Dec 26, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in SF. Despite the heavy rain, we had a terrific turnout! What a lovely spot for celebrating 2010 a few days early.
SF Peninsula New Years Eve Bash, Thursday, Dec 31, at the Sheraton Palo Alto. Sorry for those of you who had trouble finding parking. Who would have thought that such a massive crowd would come out in the middle of a deep recession?
North Bay New Years Eve Bash, Thursday, Dec 31, at Grille 101 at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Jim Spillane ran this one, while Debby and I co-hosted the Bash in Palo Alto. I am told it was a good turnout and great party.
New Years Resolutions Dance, Saturday, Jan 2, at the Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. Glad so many were able to enjoy the spectacular holiday decorations at the East Bay's most luxurious hotel!

3 Christmas Parties this past week, all well-attended:

Thursday, Dec 17, Last Day Saloon, Santa Rosa. At our first-ever party, our singles took over the lounge area of this giant nightclub prior to the Bob Schneider Concert. Good appetizers! We will do this venue again.
Friday, Dec 18, Clarion Hotel SFO, Millbrae. Thank you, Gutier Alpacas, who sent Twinkles, a sweet alpaca dressed as a reindeer, plus two elves, to entertain our singles! Alpacas are smaller versions of llamas, from South America. Twinkles couldn't stay for the whole party, as she overheated. But we sure enjoyed her company while it lasted!
Saturday, Dec 19, Art People at The Crocker Galleria, San Francisco. Even though I'm a native-born San Franciscan, I had never been to The Galleria. What a lovely shopping complex! Art People's gallery was the perfect venue for a classy art & wine tasting party, with an excellent pianist performing our favorite holiday tunes! We hope to do another party at this gallery, hopefully around Valentines Day.

3 New Years Eve parties coming up:

Pre-New Years Eve Party, Saturday, December 26, at San Francisco's most famous hotel, The Westin St Francis on Union Square. North Bay New Years Eve Bash, Thursday, Dec 31, at the Embassy Suites San Rafael. Once again DJ Darryl K will be spinning his musical magic, with great music videos!

Thanksgiving Eve Mixer, Wednesday, Nov 25, at MacArthur Park in Palo Alto. Nice turnout at our first-ever party at this lovely restaurant. We hope to do it again next year!
Thanksgiving Dance, Saturday, Nov 28, at the Pleasanton Marriott. Great party!
Sausalito Holiday Mixer, Tuesday, Dec 1, at Wellington's Wine Bar. Always a great turnout at our annual Sausalito holiday party.
Holiday Dance, Saturday, Dec 5, at Lion & Compass in Sunnyvale. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who co-sponsored the party with us, reports that it was a great party, but not as large of a turnout as usual.
MidLife Singles Mixer, Sunday, Dec 6, at 5A5 Steak Lounge in San Francisco. Odd name for a restaurant, but we are sure glad we did our first party at this very attractive restaurant. Great appetizers. Annie Gleason of Get a Love Life!, the SF Examiner's dating expert, gave a brief entertaining talk on MidLife Dating. Definitely will do this venue again.
Holiday Lock & Key, Tuesday, Dec 8, at Faz Restaurant in Danville. Not as big of a crowd as when we do our weekend Lock & Key dances, but a fun, enthusiaastic group of singles. Next month's Lock & Key (Jan 9) will include dancing at Fuz, a new restaurant that just opened up in Lafayette.

Our Wine Tasting & Dance Party in Walnut Creek, scheduled for Saturday, Dec 12, was cancelled by the venue. That means our singles will have an unusual weekend without a dance party for singles. Sorry, wasn't our choice.

We'll try to make it up to over the next holiday weekend, with three fun parties:

North Bay Mixer, Thursday, Dec 17, at a new location for us, Last Day Saloon in Downtown Santa Rosa. After our mixer at 7pm our singles are invited to stay for the Bob Schneider Concert, at a discounted price.
Christmas Dance, Friday, Dec 18, at the Clarion Hotel SFO in Millbrae. This should be our largest dance of the Christmas season, in a lovely hotel ballroom.
Christmas Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Dec 19, at Art People Gallery at Crocker Galleria, in Downtown San Francisco. Always a huge crowd on the last Saturday before Christmas at our annual Art & Wine Tasting. We're excited to be doing this beautiful gallery for the first time!

Men in Black Dance, Friday, Nov 13, at Tarragon in Sunnyvale. It was a LUCKY Friday the 13th for those who attended this fun party, according to Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, our co-sponsor. She reports a good crowd.
Sadie Hawkins Day Cougar Dance, Saturday, Nov 14, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Good turnout. The women enjoyed being the initiators on this night, when the men were not allowed to say NO!
Jack London Square Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 17, at Kincaid's in Oakland. Fun party, great appetizers, lovely view.
November Night Delight Dance, Friday, Nov 20, at Grille 101 at Embassy Suites in San Rafael. Good turnout, fun party. Our next party at this lovely hotel will be our annual North Bay New Years Eve Bash!
Lock & Key Dinner Dance, Saturday, Nov 21, aboard The Sherman in Burlingame. Patrick of LockandKeyMatch.com and Ida ran this party, while Debby and I co-hosted the Arizona Cougar Convention. Patrick reports a very crowded dance and fun party.

Blues on a Tuesday Mixer, Tuesday, Oct 27, at MARQS Restaurant in Menlo Park. Very attractive new restaurant, with live entertainment each night, including our Singles Mixer, which was well-attended. The food was very good.
Cougar Halloween Party, Friday, Oct 30, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Emeryville. Nice turnout, great costumes, fun party! We were in the large Top of the Bay Ballroom, with spectacular views of SF and the Bay, as well as the East Bay Hills.
Petaluma Halloween Party, Saturday, Oct 31, at Graziano's in Petaluma. Jim Spillane ran this party while Debby and I ran the party in Santa Cruz (see below). Jim reports that it was a fun party and that DJ Darryl K did a great job with the music and videos.
Santa Cruz Halloween Party, Saturday, Oct 31, at the Hilton Hotel. Debby and I wish we had partied in Petaluma (above) instead of driving down to Santa Cruz, because it was a dismal turnout. We were competing against the free giant Halloween Party in Downtown Santa Cruz (15,000+ attended) and it was no contest! The only good news was that the hotel was terrific and the weather was great for two hikes (Saturday afternoon) at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park) and Sunday morning (along Cliff Drive, with the spectacular view of the ocean).
Sausalito Waterfront Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 3, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. Another good turnout, as always at this wonderful restaurant. The night was clear, so we had great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Skyline, and the Bay.
California Cougar Convention, Friday, Nov 6, at the Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills. Huge crowd! The international, national, and local news media attended in full force, including ABC, CNN, German TV (doing a documentary on cougars), Australian media, The London Times, etc. Tyana Alvarado won the title of Miss Cougar California. What a delightful cougar she is! You can see her photo on our website at www.cougarevents.com.
Michael Jackson Dance, Friday, Nov 6, at Poplar Creek Grill at Coyote Point Golf Course in San Mateo. Jim Spillane ran the party for us while we were in Beverly Hills. He reports a fun high-energy dance, with DJ Darryl K playing those great MJ hits and videos four hours straight!
Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Nov 7, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. Nice turnout, delicious wines, and some great art!

Next week features 3 more parties:

Pier 39 Holiday Mixer, Tuesday, Nov 10, at a new restaurant for us, Swiss Louis, at Pier 39 in San Francisco. Promises to be a very nice party, as there is a terrific view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay, and Marin, plus 2 hours validated parking, and best of all tomorrow is the Veteran's Day Holiday!
Men in Black Dance, Lucky Friday the 13th of November, at Tarragon Restaurant in Sunnyvale. We have the giant upstairs banquet room, and hope to pack it, as we did a couple of years ago at the last Men in Black party we did at Tarragon. Optional Progressive Dinner (gentlemen change tables after each course) available.
Sadie Hawkins Eve Cougar Dance, Saturday, Nov 14, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. How appropriate to have a Cougar Dance on this night, as our cougars are encouraged to be assertive and ask men to dance. Men are NOT allowed to say NO!

Wine Tasting Party on Union Square, Tuesday, Sep 29, at Simayof Jewelers in San Francisco. Patrick and Ida report that it was a great party. Not as large as usual, because it was a Tuesday night. In the future we will stick to the larger weekend parties.
Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Oct 2, at the Crowne Plaza Concord. Unfortunately there were several huge events going on at the hotel before ours, with 1,000 people attending, so it was tough finding parking in the main hotel lot. Tom was out at the front entrance directing people to free parking across the street. Hope you all were able to find parking!
Blast From the Past Singles Mixer & Live Band Dance, Friday, Oct 9, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. Jim Spillane reports that the music was terrific and it was a fun party.
Tequila Tasting Party & Dance, Saturday, Oct 10, at Alberto's in Mtn View. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club reports it was a fun party.
Geeks & Gals Ball, Friday, Oct 16, at Dinah's Garden Hotel/Trader Vic's in Palo Alto. Barbara said this party also went well.
Wine Tasting & Dance, Saturday, Oct 17, at Vice Ultra Lounge in Walnut Creek. Patrick reports that this new night club was an excellent venue and the party was well-attended. We will do this night club again!

I returned home from Europe on Oct 19 and was back running singles parties, beginning the next night:

Lafayette Single Mingle, Tuesday, Oct 20, at Petar's Restaurant. Nice turnout, very good appetizers. We had the bonus of a singer/piano player who played all the great classic hits from the past.
October Night Delight, Friday, Oct 23, at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax. Party went well, except for a couple of neighbors complaining about the noise. The police came and I assured them we would turn down the volume. Party still went great at this lovely venue.
Dinner Dance on the Bay, Saturday, Oct 24, aboard The Sherman in Burlingame. Great turnout, as always, at this wonderful restaurant. High energy dance party!

Cougar Mixer & Dance, Saturday, Sept 26, at Roe Night Club in San Francisco. Big crowd. This time we had a nice turnout of women, unlike our last Cougar Party. Hope the ladies keep coming to these cougar parties. Wouldn't be much of a Cougar Party without cougars!

Our first-ever Tequila Tasting Party & Dance, Saturday, Oct 10 at Alberto's Night Club in Mountain View. This party is for Young Single Professionals, late 20s to early 40s. You will taste four premium tequilas from Oro de Jalisco, plus can stay for the dancing, if you wish.
Geeks & Gals Ball, Friday, Oct 16, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. We had such a humongous crowd on Aug 28 at this wonderful hotel ballroom, we are doing another. Dance to your favorite hits with DJ HickeyB!, plus enjoy the great appetizers from Trader Vic's, served at 8pm, as long as they last.
Wine Tasting Party & Dance, Saturday, Oct 17, at a lovely new and exciting nightclub, Vice Ultra Lounge in Walnut Creek.

Summer in the City Lock & Key, Friday, September 18, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Our smallest turnout ever at this usually popular location. Don't know what happened...
Battle of the Decades, Saturday, September 19, at The Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. Another big crowd, as always, for this luxurious hotel! Great party.

Cougar Mixer & Dance, Saturday, September 26, at Roe in San Francisco. This lovely boutique night club is a fun place to mingle and dance. Our last cougar party (Aug 28) was huge, and we are hoping for another great turnout!

Singles Parties, September 5 - 12, 2009

5 parties over the past two weeks:

Wine Tasting Dance on Saturday, September 5, at Spin Ultra Lounge. Nice turnout, but there were more complaints about this venue than any other for many years! Apparently the women's rest room was not working properly (for obvious reasons, I was unable to investigate), plus the place was not as tidy as some would like. Sorry about that. Most of our parties are at upscale hotels and restaurants. I guess most of our singles prefer these locations. For variety, however, we also like to do parties at large night clubs. Often night clubs are shabby. So my suggestion would be for anyone who prefers luxury to skip our night club parties and just go to the nicer locations.
Sonoma Wine Country Wine Tasting on Sunday, September 6, at Vine Tastings in Windsor. Decent turnout for a location far from most of our singles, and a wonderful venue. I thoroughly enjoyed three of the four boutique wines that were served. Great food! If you pass by Windsor in the future (north of Santa Rosa), stop in to Vine Tastings.
Salsa Mixer & Dance on Thursday, October 10, at Cafe Cocomo. Moderate sized crowd. Good food. Nice mix of singles.
Singles Extravaganza on Friday, September 11, at the Clarion SFO in Millbrae. Huge crowd, as always, at this annual event.
Michael Jackson Dance on Saturday, September 12, at the Embassy Suites in San Rafael. Never before had we dedicated an entire evening (four hours) to one recording artist. We made the exception for the King of Pop! Great turnout, high energy party. Wish all of our parties were this much fun!

Mill Valley Mixer, Thursday, September 17, at Frantoio Ristorante. This is a new location for us, very upscale. We haven't done a party in Mill Valley in a while, so we should have a very good turnout.
Summer in the City Lock & Key Dance, Friday, September 18, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Always a good turnout for our parties at this waterfront restaurant. Great views of the Bay if it's a clear night.
Battle of the Decades Dance, Saturday, September 19, at the Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. Past parties have been very well-attended at this luxurious hotel. Tonight's party, for the first time, features a different decade of music each hour, beginning with 70s music 8-9pm; 80s music 9-10pm; 90s music 10-11pm; and 2000s music the last hour. Should be fun!

Cougar Convention/other singles parties, Aug 27-29, 2009

Incredible turnout for our National Single Cougars Convention, Friday, Aug 28, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo! Unfortunately we had to turn away hundreds of disappointed cougars and cubs, who were eager to attend the hottest ticket in town. Some of our regulars were upset that an exception was not made so they could enter. Sorry, but I was under strict orders from the management of the hotel that we could not admit anyone else. Our events usually don't sell out, but it happens every once in a while. If you definitely want to get into an event, it is wise to pre-register. Our next Cougar Party will be at Roe Night Club in San Francisco on Saturday, Sep 26.

The news media came out in force to cover the Convention, including, The Associated Press, Reuters, NBC, Al Gore's Current TV, San Francisco Chronicle, San Mateo Daily Journal, Details Magazine, More Magazine, Facebook, a publication from Finland, Slate V, and so many others.

Four parties this past long weekend:

4th Annual Barbary Coast Beer Tasting Party, Thursday, Aug 20, at SF Brewing Co. in San Francisco. Big crowd, as always, at this fun event! A few people who arrived very late complained that the food ran out. Reminder that the food is to encourage people to arrive on time for the parties. If you want to come late, that's ok, but you may not get fed!
Best of the Men Dance, Friday, Aug 21, at the Concord Hilton. This was our smallest-ever turnout for a party at this lovely hotel, which is normally very crowded. We were hurt by the two other very large singles parties that night in the Bay Area.
Hot August Night Dance, Saturday, Aug 22, at David's at the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Nice turnout, despite the fact that we were competing against both the 49ers-Raiders football game and the crucial Giants-Rockies baseball game. our singles thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful restaurant. Alas, it wasn't a very hot August night, so our singles did not go out on the outdoor patio.
Sausalito Waterfront Mixer, Sunday, Aug 23, at Wellington's Wine Bar. Big turnout, fun crowd. Lovely afternoon along the Bay, although it was a little chilly.

Next week features three more parties:

Petaluma River Mixer, Thursday, Aug 27, at Graffiti's. This is our first party at this upscale restaurant. Should be a big crowd.
National Cougar Convention, Friday, Aug 28, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. We are getting a massive response from the national and local news media, so the place will be packed! You are advised to prepay for this event, as we may sell out.
Lock & Key Dance, Saturday, Aug 29, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Rafael. If you haven't been to a Lock & Key, you have been missing the best ice-breaker there is for a roomful of strangers!

Indian Valley Golf Club Mixer, Tuesday, Aug 11, in Novato. A beautiful sunny night to enjoy the lovely view and deer. Modest turnout.
Grand Opening Dance, Friday, Aug 14, at the new Shattuck Plaza Hotel in Berkeley. Unfortunately, the large Crystal Ballroom was not ready, so we were in the smaller Cotton Room. It was a tight squeeze, but a very nice party, with lovely view from the penthouse level. After spending a rumored 50 million dollars, this hotel is gorgeous!
Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Aug 15, at Artists Alley in San Francisco. Beautiful, eclectic mix of art. Great wine, especially from our Guest of Honor, Paul Schmitz, who poured wines from his two wineries, Saddleback Cellars in Oakville (Napa Valley) and Cougars Leap (Lake County). Fun party!

4th Annual Barbary Coast Beer Tasting Party, Thursday, Aug 20, at SF Brewing Company in SF. The last standing saloon from San Francisco's wicked Barbary Coast era is a wonderful venue for meeting new friends. Only $10/door includes lots of food, plus tasting some great beers!

Generation X Mixer on Tuesday, July 28, at Faz in Danville. This party was poorly attended. I guess we just don't have enough in that age group in that area!
Golden Gate Yacht Club Dinner Dance, Friday, July 31, in San Francisco attracted a huge crowd! People just love that location.
Dinner/Dance on the Bay, Saturday, August 1st, aboard The Sherman in Burlingame. Like our previous parties on the only on-water restaurant on the SF Peninsula, this party was packed! What a delightful venue for flirting and dancing.
Mixer & Live Band Dance, Thursday, August 6, at Number One Broadway Night Club in Los Gatos. Our smallest turnout ever at this usually very popular location. Don't know why...
Singles Night at Kodiak Jack's, Friday, August 7, in Petaluma. Nice turnout, fun place. Let's do this again sometime!
Shy Men and the Women Who Love Them, Saturday, August 8, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco. Big crowd, excellent dance party.

SF Peninsula Single Mingle, Monday, July 20, at Straits Restaurant in Burlingame. We expected a big crowd, as this was our first party at this upscale restaurant, but we only drew a modest attendance. The appetizers were great, and the party went well, with several new faces. This should be a very good location for our parties, so we will try this venue again down the line.
MidLife Singles Mixer, Tuesday, July 21, at Ristorante La Toscana in San Rafael. Big crowd. They thoroughly enjoyed the two brief presentations by author Mason Grigsby and SF Examiner Dating expert Annie Gleason on MidLife Dating.
Tri-Valley Lock & Key Dance, Friday, July 24, at the Pleasanton Marriott. This was the big one, as is the case whenever we do our Lock & Key Dances. Next Lock & Key Dance will be on Saturday, August 29, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Rafael.

Santa Cruz Cougar Mixer, Thursday, July 16, at The Hilton. Big crowd, but mainly men. This would have been the night to meet young, good looking guys. Too bad more women did not avail themselves of this opportunity! Fun party. Next cougar party will be THE BIG ONE: National Single Cougars Convention, Friday, Aug 28, at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto.
Dance Among the Redwoods, Friday, July 17, at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax. This is a Marin County institution, and we were delighted to do our first-ever party there. What a lovely setting, with lavish gardens, redwoods, and fountain. It was a warm night, so our singles enjoyed the ambience of an indoor-outdoor party. Big crowd.
Wine Tasting/Dance Party, Saturday, July 18, at Alberto's in Mountain View. Our singles thoroughly enjoyed the combination of fun people, great wines, and the Michael Jackson video from his spectacular concert in Bucharest, Romania. None of us had ever seen this video of his live concert, and it was a blast! Afterwards the DJ played great mixes of our favorite hits, followed by the Live Music of Ruido Azul. Too loud for me, but many of our singles stayed for the dancing and helped pack the dance floor.

Our Summer Singles Spectacular, Friday, July 10, certainly lived up to its billing. We were at Broadway Studios, the largest night club in North Beach, and needed all of that space for the trapeze artist, singers, dancers, dance lesson, and dance party (plus dinner!). Cynthia Glinka gave a terrific free lesson, "If You Can Walk, You Can Dance." DJ Miguel of Startracks played a very nice variety of today's hottest hits and the greatest songs of yesteryear.

Our Silicon Valley Single Mingle, Thursday, July 9, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course, featured a fun Mixer Game, plus appetizers. Nice party, with lots of new faces.

The weekend concluded on Saturday, July 11 at Choice Night Club in Benicia with the first Single Cougars Party ever held in Solano County. It started out grim, with almost all men for the first hour. The women eventually arrived (thank God!), but ladies, we need you to arrive earlier at these parties!

Two parties over the long 4th of July Weekend:

Thursday, July 2, Single Mingle at the Walnut Creek Marriott. Big crowd at the lounge in the spectacular atrium! Live piano music provided a romantic backdrop to our mixer.
Friday, July 3, Independence Eve Dance at the Poplar Creek Grill. It was only recently that I learned of the large banquet room alongside the golf course. Perfect place for a big party! It started off badly, with almost all men and no women. The women eventually arrived, then the dance floor was packed until the last song at midnight. Uncle Sam hosted the party. DJ Mike of Startracks did his usual terrific job of playing the right song at the right time. We hope to return soon to this marvelous new venue.

Silicon Valley Single Mingle, Thursday, July 9, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Always a big crowd at this fun venue, also on a golf course.
Summer Singles Spectacular, Friday, July 10, at Broadway Studios in San Francisco. We are excited about our first-ever party on Broadway. This is a huge facility, so please pass the word on to your single friends, as we need a humongous crowd, or the place will look empty. We have live entertainment, including TRAPEZE, plus DJ Miguel of Startracks playing your favorite hits. BONUS: Cynthia Glinka will do a free dance lesson for those who arrive on time. All for just $15/advance (by July 9) or $20/door. OPTION: Come early for a delicious dinner, at additional cost. The other advantage to coming early is the free street parking that fills up quickly. There is a paid parking lot next door to this venue.
Cougar Mixer & Live Band Dance, Saturday, July 11, at Choices in Benicia. We had a nice party at this fun night club a couple of months ago, so we are returning to do the first-ever Cougars party in Solano County!

Well, we survived the heat wave! Four parties this past week:

Advanced Degrees Mixer, Tuesday, June 23, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville. Always cooler in Emeryville than most of the rest of the Bay Area. We were outside on Trader Vic's lovely deck on the water and in fact had to ask them to turn on the heating lamps for those who were skimpily dressed! Nice turnout.
Summer Night Delight Dance, Friday, June 26, at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Resort Hotel in Palo Alto. Big crowd, and very enthusiastic! In honor of Michael Jackson's passing, DJ Slick played many of his greatest hits, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Such a lovely venue, with a great view of the pool area. The outside deck was also quite popular.
Saturday Night Fever Dance, Saturday, June 27, at Graziano's in Petaluma. DJ Darryl K played lots of songs and videos from the movie, plus he taught us all how to do the Saturday Night Fever Hustle. But Michael Jackson dominated this party as well. The big crowd just couldn't get enough of Michael's great songs and videos!
Sunday Afternoon Delight, June 28, at Whipper Snapper in San Rafael. The heat finally caught up with us, with a vengeance. The hottest time of the day, 3pm, on the hottest day of the year, with no air conditioning! Small crowd, as you might expect. Great food from Whipper Snapper. We will do this fun venue again, hopefully next time without the sweltering heat!

The Art of Flirting Seminar, Tuesday, June 20, at Santa Rosa Jr College. Although this is at a college, it is for adult singles, not college-age. This is the seminar I have taught in major cities all over the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Laugh while you learn how to flirt!
Single Mingle, Thursday, July 2, at the Walnut Creek Marriott. The lovely atrium of this upscale hotel is perfect for our Mixer Game and appetizers.
Independence Eve Dance, Friday, July 3, at Dominic's at Poplar Creek in San Mateo. We are excited about this new venue! Uncle Sam will host this party.

I was on vacation in New Mexico for six days (beautiful state!), so I missed the first two of our parties this week:

Young Single Professionals Mixer & Live Band Dance, Thursday, June 18, at #1 Broadway Night Club in Los Gatos. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who ran the party, reports a moderate turnout and a fun party.
Elegant Lock & Key Dance, Friday, June 19, at the Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. Patrick Dalal of LockandKeyMatch.com, reports a big crowd. I heard a complaint that the temperature was too hot. We mean something totally different when we say we have hot singles parties!

I returned home from New Mexico on Saturday afternoon, so I was able to run the Welcome Summer Art & Wine Tasting Party on June 20 at RR Gallery in San Francisco. Nice turnout, lots of new faces, great party!

This is a lovely, fun restaurant I discovered when the West End Neighborhood reopened (after extensive construction). We will enjoy the outdoor patio, weather permitting, as well as the fun interior, complimentary appetizers, and a Mixer Game with prizes.

The weekend started out early and poorly at our Single Parents Mixer, Thursday, June 11, at Park Chalet in San Francisco. Tiny turnout. I asked some of our regulars, who live within a mile of the party, why they didn't attend. They said they didn't want to meet single parents. Sad to hear that so many of our singles prefer not to meet someone with children!

Our annual Bay Area Flirting Convention, Friday, June 12, at the Concord Hilton, was a great success! Huge turnout, including KPIX CBS 5 TV. We were on the 11 o'clock news the night of the party, and are scheduled to be on TV again at length in a couple of weeks on KPIX's Eye on the Bay. Congratulations to Denise Stanley and Gordon Osmundson, who won the Bay Area Flirting Championship!

The weatherman had predicted rain that night, which would have ruined the spectacular view of San Francisco and the Bay. Once again we got lucky, and there was the beautiful panorama!
The Recession Ball, Friday, June 5, at the San Mateo Marriott. Excellent crowd. Lots of compliments about the music played by DJ Scotty.
Black Card Mixer, Saturday, June 6, at Faz at Sheraton Sunnyvale. Everyone wanted to know what the Black Card was all about. You can find out at www.SecondConnection.com. Hope you all used up the 10 free cards you got at the party and will make that second connection!

Single Parents Mixer, Thursday, June 11, at Park Chalet in San Francisco. We've been neglecting you single parents for a couple of years, so here's a party just for you! If you are the parent of a living child, come to meet your fellow veterans of child-rearing.
Bay Area Flirting Convention, Friday, June 12, at the Concord Hilton. I was interviewed by the Contra Costa Times, as were my keynote speaker, Susan Bradley and three of our singles. A huge article is scheduled to come out a few days before the party. Could be quite a turnout! We only do the flirting convention once a year, so this is your only chance in 2009 to win the flirting championship of the Bay Area, with prizes! Our first flirting convention was featured by Oprah for an hour. Channel 5's Eye on the Bay is planning to cover this one.
An Elegant Night in Tiburon, Saturday, June 13, at Servino's. Always a huge crowd when we party at this lovely restaurant, with the great view of the SF Skyline and Bay.

Two singles parties this weekend:

Tropical Dance on Friday, May 29, at Lion and Compass in Sunnyvale. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who co-sponsored the party with us, reports that it was a "good party," but not as well-attended as usual. "It started very slow between 8 and 9." DJ Tony of Choice Music "did a great job. Good mix and lots of kudos from folks."
Cougars Mixer & Dance on Saturday, May 30, at Roe Night Club in San Francisco. Huge crowd! Our younger men/older women appreciated the low $10 cover charge, which not only included our own private mixer on the 2nd Floor of this giant, beautiful night club; but also free admission to the dancing, which followed, with 3 different DJs on 3 different levels. The general public had to pay $20 cover after 10pm, but our singles got to stay for the dancing for free! As long as these cougar parties continue to be so well-attended, we will scheduled one per month, somewhere in the Bay Area.

Singles Mixer, Thursday, May 21, at Bing Crosby's in Walnut Creek. Great turnout, excellent live music by Nicky DePaola & Company! What a lovely night club. My first time, didn't know it was so gorgeous.
Waterfront Lock & Key Dance, Friday, May 22, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Terrific crowd, high energy. DJ Miguel of Startracks showed us why he is so popular at the singles parties!
Singles Day at the Mountain Play, Saturday, May 23, in Mill Valley. This performance of Man of La Mancha, benefitting The Marin Symphony, was very entertaining. We had a group of 50 singles in our section. The weather was perfect. If you missed this one, there will be another performance, with a special singles section, on Saturday, June 13. In order to enjoy the special singles portion, call 415-383-1100 for advance tickets.

Next weekend features two parties:

Tropical Singles Dance at Lion and Compass in Sunnyvale. There is also an optional Progressive Dinner, where the men change tables after each course, so you get to meet everyone before the dancing starts.
Single Cougars Mixer & Dance at Roe Night Club in San Francisco. If you are a younger man who likes older women (or vice versa), this is the party for you!

Single Cougars Mixer, Tuesday, May 12, at Faz in Pleasanton. Usually a big crowd for our single cougar parties, but not this time! Don't know what happened. The small group enjoyed the party regardless, and the food and service at Faz, as always, was terrific.
Health-Conscious Singles Mixer, Friday, May 15, at University of Sports in Rohnert Park. Likewise, a small turnout for this party. We have never done a Health-Conscious Singles Party before. Guess there isn't a demand to meet health-conscious singles! We enjoyed the healthy snacks and drinks.
31st Anniversary Celebration, Saturday, May 16, at Grille 101 at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Big crowd, as always, at this fun hotel night club. We celebrated 31 years of producing parties for singles. DJ Darryl K spun his usual magic and the party was high-energy!

Singles Mixer & Live Band Dance, May 9, at Choices in Benicia. Quite a crowd attended this party in a small town. We will have to do this one again!

Single Cougars Mixer, Tuesday, May 12, 7-9pm, at Faz Restaurant in Pleasanton. For younger men/older women. The cougar parties are always well-attended. This is our first one in the Tri-Valley area.
Health-Conscious Mixer, Friday, May 15, 8-10pm, at University of Sports in Rohnert Park. This is our first party with this theme. If it works out well we will repeat the theme in other parts of the Bay Area. This is a huge facility, so tell all of your friends.
31st Anniversary Dance for The Society of Single Professionals, Saturday, May 16, 8pm-Midnight, at Grille 101 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Can you believe I have been running these parties for 31 years? I wonder what I will do when I grow up?

Due to the rainy weekend and the swine flu hysteria, attendance was down at both of our parties this past weekend:

Baby Boomers Convention, Friday, May 1, at the Clarion SFO in Millbrae. Timothy R. Yee of Cathedral Financial Group gave an entertaining talk on How to Save Your ASSets from Uncle Sam. I personally learned a few important financial facts! We had a fun dance party, afterwards, with DJ Mike doing another fine job for us. The San Francisco Chronicle sent a reporter and a photographer, so hopefully you will be able to read about the convention in greater detail.
Singles Mixer with Live Band Dance, Saturday, May 2, at City Beach in Fremont. This was our first party at this huge facility. Our singles had fun with the Mixer Game, then stayed for the Live Music of The Wade Love Band.

Single Mingle, Thursday, May 7, at the Hilton Santa Cruz. Our last party at this lovely hotel attracted 170 singles. Hopefully we will get another big crowd this time!

While I was hiking in 5 National Parks in Utah, we had two great parties over the weekend:

Silicon Valley Singles Convention, Friday, April 24, at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Cabana Resort Hotel in Palo Alto. I am told by Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who ran the convention in my absence, that Dr. Wendy Lyon gave a very entertaining presentation on Overcoming Roadblocks to Love. DJ Miguel did an excellent job, as usual, with the dance music.
Blue Jean Ball, Saturday, April 25, at Graziano's Ristorante in Petaluma. Jim Spillane, who ran this party for me, reports that we had an excellent turnout and that the dance floor had to be expanded to accommodate the enthusiastic dancers! Jim also reports that DJ Darryl, as always, did a great job spinning the right tunes.

After I returned from Utah, we had a Young Single Professionals Party, Tuesday, April 28, at Azul Night Club in San Francisco. Our young singles had a great time with the mixer game for the first two hours of the party. I left before the dancing started, so I can't report on that.

We have two events coming up this first weekend of May:

Baby Boomers Convention, Friday, May 1, at The Clarion Hotel SFO in Millbrae. This is the first convention ever held in the Bay Area just for single boomers. Should be a great turnout in this beautiful hotel ballroom. The Dance Party takes place from 8pm-Midnight. Preceding the dancing, we have a FREE seminar on How to Save Your ASSets from Uncle Sam with our boomer financial consultant, Timothy R. Yee of Cathedral Financial.
Singles Mixer & Optional Live Band Dance, Saturday, May 2, at City Beach in Fremont. This is a huge facility--you have to see it to believe it. The Wade Love Band will be performing, following our singles mixer.

An Elegant Evening at The Claremont, Friday, April 17, in Berkeley. As with last month's party, another big crowd. Our singles sure love The Claremont!
Dance on the Bay, Saturday, April 18, at The Sherman in Buringame. We packed the ship again! It never left the dock, but people didn't mind, with such a high-energy crowd.

Single Cougars Mixer, Sunday, April 5, at the Moorpark Hotel in San Jose. Nice turnout, excellent and plentiful appetizers.
MidLife Singles Mixer, Tuesday, April 7, at Kingfish in San Mateo. Our first time at this lovely restaurant, with 1920 art deco style. Very good turnout, despite a little rain, and the appetizers just kept on coming! Annie Gleason of Get a Love Life gave an entertaining talk on MidLife Dating.
Looking for Love in All the Right Places Seminar, Tuesday, April 7, at College of Marin. Small but enthusiastic class.
Singles Charity Ball, Saturday, April 11, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square, San Francisco. A phenomenal crowd! Everyone spoke positively about our new DJ, Jerry Schultz. 100% of your tax-deductible donations went directly to The Seva Foundation to cure blindness. We raised $7,385 after expenses, which will enable Seva to restore sight to approximately 148 blind people! This is based on an average cost of $50 per eye surgery in the poor countries of the world. If you did not get a chance to attend, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to The Seva Foundation.

Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club ran our Welcome Spring Dance on Friday, March 27, at Tarragon in Sunnyvale. She reports that it was a fun party with a moderate attendance.

I was up in Reno at The Silver Legacy for the National Baby Boomers Festival. We did not get the huge crowd we hoped for, but I received many compliments, especially about the great speakers. One of our Boomers wrote a sonnet about the festival that says it all:

The Baby Boomer Festival - a sonnet

In recent months the New York Exchange took a nose dive to the floor,
Retirement accounts were cut in half with many new stories of greed.
But the Spirit of the Baby Boomers now whispers that life is much more,
And a new gathering of California and Nevada Boomers is what we need.
We'll play the Beatles and Johnny Mathis with all those lights dimmed low,
The old favorites will be enhanced as the words are mouthed by our DJ.
We'll dance with her being cheek to cheek as in the Boomer days we know,
The best ever of great music and times...the Boomer Way is the only way.
But the Baby Boomer Festival was much more...even learning how to flirt,
With a lock by her heart, we unlocked new friendships with Lock and Key.
We had more than one dance in that weekend and music to turn many a skirt,
And there in a long row of couches were gals who would Speed Date with me.
And I believe for me over these three days a few of Cupid's arrows did fly.
A woman's name did Cupid whisper into my ear...grateful for your work am I.

St Patricks Day Mixer, Tuesday, March 17, at Vic Stewart's in Walnut Creek. Last year's party at this wonderful restaurant at an historic train station was so crowded, they gave us three rooms this time. We needed all three for the big crowd!
Wine Tasting & Live Band Dance, Thursday, March 19, at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos. The Second Story Band was terrific, as always. The dance floor was packed!
Welcome Spring Dance, Friday, March 20, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Rafael. By coincidence, our DJ, Darry K, was born on March 20. So we celebrated the first day of Spring by wishing Darryl a happy birthday, sharing his delicious chocolate birthday cake, and dancing to some terrific music. Great party!

Our largest event of 2009, the first-ever National Baby Boomers Festival, at the Silver Legacy in Reno, Nevada, March 27-29, features three days of non-stop partying. Hope you can join us! Our first-ever Cougars Party in Marin was on Tuesday, March 10, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. Huge crowd! We also had four journalists who attended, who will all be doing stories about the party: Marin Independent Journal, Marin Scope Newspapers, The Daily Californian, and SF Gate (the website for the San Francisco Chronicle. Watch for the stories!
It was a lucky Friday the 13th for those who attended our Blast From the Past Singles Dance at the San Mateo Marriott. Nice crowd, great music from the 60s and 70s.

3 parties this past weekend. One giant; two small:

North Bay Mixer, Tuesday, March 3, at Sally Tomatoes in Rohnert Park. This venue was recommended to me by one of our regulars who attends our singles parties. He thought it would be a great space for one of our mixers, and it was... except that it was extremely difficult to find. It was my first time there, and I had trouble finding it myself (even with mapquest.com directions). Wish I had scouted it out in advance, but when you produce 150 singles parties a year, there's not a lot of time for exploring. We had a decent turnout anyway, but I'm sure it would have been much bigger if I had given explicit directions to this fun cafe.
East Bay Singles Convention, Saturday, March 7, at the legendary Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley. We promoted this party as our largest of 2009 in the East Bay, and it lived up to its billing! Humongous crowd, great party. Best-selling author Susan RoAne gave a fine talk on her latest book, Face-to-Face, followed by terrific dance music by DJ Miguel. Great evening!
Sunday in the City Mixer, March 8, at Jillian's in San Francisco. Our singles arrived late, and in a bad ratio. Usually the men come earlier than the women, but this time the men came late. It was hard to get the party going with a disproportionate balance, but eventually the men arrived and we had a reasonably good party. The food was terrific!

Single Cougars Mixer, Tuesday, March 10, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. We've had tremendous publicity at our previous Cougar parties, and this one will be no different. Both the Marin Independent Journal and Marin Scope newspapers are covering this, the first-ever Cougar party in Marin. Should be a very large crowd.
Blast From Past Dance, Lucky Friday the 13th of March, at The San Mateo Marriott. We expect a big turnout, as always at our parties at this popular hotel. DJ HickeyB! will play our favorite hits from the 60s and the 70s.

Four singles events this past week:

MidLife Singles Mixer, Monday, Feb 23, at Azul in San Francisco. This was our first time at this fun lounge and it was packed! Surprising how many singles will turn out on a drizzly Monday night in the City! Author Mason Grigsby and Dating Expert Annie Gleason gave brief, entertaining talks about MidLife Dating.
Finding a Lasting Relationship Seminar, Tuesday, Feb 24, at Santa Rosa Jr College. My popular seminar was enthusiastically received by adults of all ages, intent on meeting someone special over the next 6 months. If you missed this seminar, I will do it again at College of Marin on April 9, under the title of "Looking for Love in All the RIGHT Places."
Lock & Key Dance, Thursday, Feb 26, at Easy925 in Danville. Crowded party. People were surprised we did a dance on a Thursday, but we can't get this venue on a Friday or Saturday night, because that's when their regular crowd comes in. It was the perfect size for our Thursday night crowd.
Monterey Bay Singles Convention, Saturday, Feb 28, at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey. Author Tana Marie gave an inspired presentation on "How to Find Love During a Recession," followed by the great dance music of DJ HickeyB! Channel 8 TV came down so they could feature us on the 11 o'clock news later that night!

Only 2 parties this past weekend:

Pre-Oscars Ball, Friday, Feb 20, Michael's in Mountain View. Not as large of a turnout as last year's ball. Perhaps our singles are burned out from attending too many of our Valentines parties? I took the night off myself (Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club very graciously gave me the night off to relax after I ran so many Valentine parties). I heard it was a fun party from Jack Borok, who runs Sierra Singles (Loma Prieta Chapter).
Art & Wine Tasting & Tour, Feb 21, Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. Nice turnout and a great party. Many of our singles toured the underground labyrinth of art studios in this fascinating, giant art gallery.

Next week features four singles events:

MidLife Singles Mixer, Monday, Feb 23, at a beautiful new location for us, Azul near Union Square in San Francisco. This is our first MidLife party in several months, so we expect the place will be packed!
Finding a Lasting Relationship Seminar, Tuesday, Feb 24, at Santa Rosa Jr College. This is the seminar I have taught to rave reviews at 61 colleges!
Lock & Key Singles Dance, Thursday, Feb 26, at Easy925 in Danville. We had a great turnout for last year's party at this fun nightclub, which is now under new ownership and a new name (formerly Blend Night Club).
Monterey Bay Singles Convention, Saturday, Feb 28, at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey. This is the largest annual gathering of romantic eligibles in the entire Monterey Bay area!

Marin Singles Convention, Friday, Jan 30, at Servino's in Tiburon. This annual event is always well-attended, but this time we had the biggest crowd in years!
Art & Wine Tasting Party at Jack London Square, Saturday, Jan 31, at Swarm Art Gallery in Oakland. Last year's party was so well-attended, we repeated it. Another nice turnout.
Valentine Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Feb 6, at The Clarion in Millbrae. As always, a big crowd. Our singles love the high ceilings and beautiful chandeliers in this lovely hotel ballroom.
Free Single Travel Party, Sunday, Feb 8, at Faz in Sunnyvale. Originally scheduled for Palo Alto a week earlier, but we had to move the party to this new location and date. Great turnout anyway. Ann Thomas gave her annual slide show about affordable trips for singles to exotic destinations worldwide, followed by socializing. A lot of people stayed for dinner afterwards. Valentine Mixer, Tuesday, Feb 10, at First Street Cafe in Benicia. Small but fun group attended.
Valentine Cougars Mixer, Thursday, Feb 12, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville. We were overwhelmed! Over 220 singles filled our private banquet room before we had to start turning people away. Such a huge crowd for a weeknight party. We were shocked! The overflow crowd filled up the restaurant's bar up front. Sorry the party was so crowded. We had no way of predicting how many would arrive. People stayed late, they were having so much fun.
Valentine Art & Wine Tasting Party, Friday, Feb 13, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. Nice turnout, although not as big as last year's party at this gorgeous art gallery.
Young Single Professionals Valentine Party, Friday, Feb 13, at The Blue Chalk Cafe in Palo Alto. Our smallest YSP party, perhaps because we were competing with ourselves with the other party that night in San Francisco (see above).
Meet Your Valentine Convention, Saturday, Feb 14, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. Humongous crowd, as usual, at San Francisco's most famous hotel!
Presidents Day Holiday Dance, Sunday, Feb 15, at The Carlos Club in San Carlos. It was raining cats and dogs, but we still had a good crowd and a fun party!

Two radically different venues for our singles parties this past week:

Singles Night at the Marin Symphony, Tuesday, Jan 20. We had a lovely wine reception, with delicious appetizers, just for our singles, in the Green Room of the Marin Center, followed by The Marin Symphony, with a lovely cameo performance by the Smuin Ballet and a spectacular solo by the Naumberg Cello Winner. What a terriic evening!
Dance Party at Legendary Trader Vic's, Saturday, Jan 24, in Palo Alto. This gorgeous ballroom, with high ceilings and elaborate chandeliers, was the perfect venue for our party, with a huge crowd!

FIVE more fun parties over the coming two and a half weeks:

Marin Singles Convention, 2009's largest gathering of romantic eligibles in the area, on Friday, Jan 30, at Servino's Ristorante in Tiburon. Hopefully another clear night, so we can enjoy the incredible view of San Francisco and the Bay as we dance the night away.
Art & Wine Tasting Party at Jack London Square, Saturday, Jan 31, at Swarm Art Gallery. We had a large crowd at last year's party at this fun art gallery, and hopefully another good turnout will take place in 2009.
Valentine Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Feb 6, at the Clarion Hotel SFO in Millbrae. We had a huge crowd last time at this beautiful hotel ballroom.
Free Single Travel Party, Sunday, Feb 8, at Faz Restaurant in Sunnyvale. Ann Thomas of The Singles Travel Company presents her annual slide show of exotic destinations worldwide. Our singles still want to travel, recession or no recession! Socializing follows.
Valentine Mixer, Tuesday, Feb 10, 7-9pm, at the First Steet Cafe in Benicia. We have our own private upstairs banquet room, where we have had two successful parties in the past.

3 very well-attended parties this past week:

New Years Resolutions Mixer, Tuesday, Jan 13, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. Always a big crowd at this terrific restaurant. We lucked out with the weather again: a clear beautiful view of the SF Skyline and Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge!
Dance by the Bay with Luau Buffet, Saturday, Jan 17, at the Golden Gate Yacht Club in San Francisco. Another perfect night, with clear views of the GG Bridge, Marin, and the Bay! Some complained that there were not enough tables and chairs. That's true, we just don't have the space for hundreds of singles to sit at this extremely popular location. Also a couple of people complained about the buffet. We'll try to do better next time. Lots of compliments for our DJ, Darryl K of Mobile Sound and Light.
Wine Tasting in the Sonoma Wine Country, Sunday, Jan 18, at Mayo Family Winery in Glen Ellen. Everyone loved the balmy summer day (in the middle of winter) in Mayo's outdoor patio. Terrific wine! Alas, we didn't have a good ratio of men to women. I guess most of the guys were watching the championship football games on TV. At least women got to meet men who are NOT into football, something many appreciated!

Only two events for singles this coming week, but they both are terrific:

Singles Night at the Marin Symphony, Tuesday, Jan 20, at the Marin Center in San Rafael. We only do this once a year, and it's always memorable. First, a private party, just for our singles, at 6pm, with complimentary wine and appetizers. Then a great performance of Romeo & Juliet by the Marin Symphony, with Smuin Ballet. Admission is FREE to the singles party at 6pm, if you buy a ticket for the symphony.

Single Cougars Mixer, Thursday, Jan 8, at Faz in Danville. Both The San Francisco Chronicle and The East Bay Express sent reporters and photographers to cover this very popular event! Look for the feature stories coming out soon in both newspapers. Next Cougar party will be at Trader Vics in Emeryville on Feb 12.
Santa Cruz Singles Convention, Saturday, Jan 10, at the Hilton Hotel. We were shocked to have our largest crowd in several years for this annual event, despite the recession.
Singles Wine Tasting Party, Sunday, Jan 11, at Adagio Wedding & Event Center in Gilroy. Rapazzini Winery's great wines were much appreciated!

New Years Resolutions Mixer, Tuesday, Jan 13, at The Spinnaker in Sausalito. 96% of all new years resolutions are broken by Jan 14! Meet new friends and learn about their resolutions at this fun party. It's been quite a while since we had a party at this lovely waterfront restaurant, so we expect a big turnout!
Golden Gate Yacht Club Dance by the Bay with Luau Buffet, Saturday, Jan 17, in San Francisco. Always a huge crowd at this very popular venue. $25 for both dinner and dancing can't be beat!
Wine Tasting Party in the Sonoma Wine Country, Sunday, Jan 18, at Mayo Family Winery in Glen Ellen. Hopefully we will have a sunny day, so we can fully appreciate the beauty of the Valley of the Moon!

Happy New Year! 2009 kicked off with our three New Years Eve bashes on Dec 31! Big crowds at our parties at the Cabana Resort Hotel in Palo Alto and the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Smaller turnout at our NYE bash at Pasta Pelican in Alameda.

Our Dance on the Bay aboard The Sherman in Burlingame on Friday, Jan 2, was a delight. Everyone loved dancing on a boat (even though it never left the dock). Big crowd!

Our New Years Lock & Key Dance at Sinbad's in San Francisco was also very crowded.

Single Cougars Mixer for Younger Men/Older Women, Thursday, Jan 8, at Faz in Danville. Our previous two Cougar parties, in San Francisco and Palo Alto, were crowded. We expect nothing less for the first-ever Cougar party in the East Bay!
Santa Cruz Singles Convention, Saturday, Jan 10. We're excited about our first-ever party at the lovely Hilton Hotel. We have wanted to party there in the past, but could not close the deal. Thanks to DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music, who helped us make this happen! He will spin his usual magic, I'm sure, at this, the largest annual gathering of romantic eligibles in Santa Cruz County. 3 fun parties this past week, all well-attended.

Christmas Mixer, Tuesday, Dec 23, at The Orinda House. Armen Boyd, founding member of Big Band Beat, delighted us with his tenor sax!
Pre-New Years Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Dec 26, at the Concord Hilton. Some people were skeptical about singles coming out the night after Christmas for a party. Too bad, because we had a great crowd! DJ Slick Vic did his usual great job of spinning our favorite hits.
Pre-New Years Dinner/Dance, Saturday, Dec 27, at Illusions in Palo Alto. What a terrific party! The huge dance floor was packed all night and I hear that dinner was delicious (I ate fast food in the car driving down from San Rafael and didn't have time to enjoy the Progressive Dinner at this wonderful restaurant/night club).

New Years Eve is the biggest party night of the year, so we have three singles dances, North Bay, East Bay, and SF Peninsula. Hopefully one of these is close to you. Parties include dancing to your favorite hits, plus party hats and favors, 9pm-1am.

Five Holiday Parties over the past two weeks, with one more to go.

Sausalito Waterfront Mixer, Tuesday, Dec 9, at Gaylord's. Big crowd,as always with our annual Sausalito holiday party.
Solano Holiday Dance, Friday, Dec 12, at Courtyard by Marriott in Vallejo. Much smaller crowd than our party here a few months ago. I don't know why... Hard to understand sometimes why some parties do better than others.
Pleasanton Hotel Party, Monday, Dec 15. It rained tonight, so we had our smallest ever crowd at this fun venue. Good party, anyway.
Christmas Dance, Friday, Dec 19, San Mateo Marriott. Big crowd. Nothing but compliments about DJ Slick, who spun his magic for the first time in San Mateo for us.
Christmas Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Dec 20, R R Art Gallery in San Francisco. Huge crowd; lots of new faces. So many, we had to turn away a few at the door. Sorry. Sometimes it pays to pre-register, so you get in if there is a sell-out.

Our last Christmas party this year will be on Tuesday, Dec 23, at The Orinda House. As a special treat, Armen Boyd, founding member of Big Band Beat, will entertain us on the tenor saxophone!

We have two Pre-New Years Eve parties again this year. Lots of people prefer to celebrate the new year a few days early and avoid those hefty new years eve prices. Our Pre-New Years parties include dancing to your favorite hits, plus party hats and favors. Both are very affordable.

Pre-New Years Eve Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Dec 26, at the Concord Hilton. Our singles always turn out in large numbers the day after Christmas!
Pre-New Years Eve Dinner/Dance, Saturday, Dec 27, at Illusions in Palo Alto. It's been a long time since we had a party at this spectacular night club, and we expect an excellent turnout.

North Bay Holiday Party, Monday, Dec 1, at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa. Poor turnout, unfortunately, but we had fun with the dancing and karaoke.
Young Single Professionals Party, Friday, Dec 5, at Zen Ultra Lounge in Mtn View. This party was originally scheduled for Arthur's in Santa Clara, but the restaurant has closed and will re-open as India Gate. So we had to scramble at the last minute for a substitute venue. Fortunately Zen Ultra Lounge was available. We had a slightly smaller turnout than usual, but not bad, considering the late notice of the change in venue.
Marin Holiday Dance, Saturday, Dec 6, at Grille 101 Lounge at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Huge crowd! This location does so well, we are doing one of our three New Years Eve Parties here.

Next week features only two singles parties:

Waterfront Holiday Mixer, Tuesday, Dec 9, at Gaylord's in Sausalito. Last year's holiday mixer at this wonderful restaurant attracted 125 singles. Hopefully we will get another big crowd this year!
Holiday Dance, Friday, Dec 12, at Courtyard by Marriott in Vallejo. Our last dance at this hotel (June 7) was packed! This time we have three co-sponsors: Singles of Solano (SOS), Napa Singles, and Chance2Romance.
