Parties, Sept 28-30

Our annual Petaluma party (Thursday, Sept 28) was at the popular Graziano's Ristorante. We had a very large upstairs banquet room which would be ideal for a dance party (huge dance floor), but too large for our Singles Mixer. I regret that I booked the party without first visiting the venue--I would have chosen a more intimate site for our mixer. Graziano's staff (and appetizers) were terrific. We will definitely do a giant dance party there in the future!

We had the opposite experience at our Art & Wine Tasting Party on Friday. Here we chose an appropriately-sized venue and the place was packed! What a terrific party at The Artists Alley, a lovely art gallery in San Francisco. And miracle of miracles--we had an even ratio of men and women. So hard to get enough men to go to parties featuring two things most women love--art and wine. But we succeeded this time! Our next Art & Wine Tasting parties are on Saturday, Oct 14 at Studio 333 in Sausalito; and Saturday, Nov 4, at Togonon Art Gallery near Union Square in SF. We also have Wine Tasting parties on Sunday, Nov 12 at Cline Cellars in Sonoma and on Nov 18 at Sacred Paths Bookstore in San Mateo.

On Saturday we had two parties. Many thanks to Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who co-sponsored and hosted our Autumn Night Delight party at Monte Carlo Supper Club in Mt View. Barbara tells me the party went well, but not as large of an attendance as last year's. While Barbara was running that party, I was able to host what turned out to be our last Saturday Night Singles party at Rings in San Rafael. The management informed me that our singles "don't drink enough," so they are booting us out after three years of parties every Saturday night. So much for the only weekly singles party in the entire Bay Area!

As you may have noticed, we are doing many more Saturday night parties at different locations around the Bay Area. The demise of our San Rafael Saturday night venue will only encourage this trend. For example, next Saturday, Oct 7, we are hosting a Lock & Key Mixer, followed by dancing to the Live Music of The Joyce Grant Band, at a new location, Joe's of Lafayette. We expect a huge crowd! Speaking of live bands, we are hosting a Singles Mixer again at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos this coming Thursday, Oct 5. Our last party there (Aug 3) attracted 130 singles, which is a huge turnout for a Thursday night party. We hope for another big crowd to enjoy the Mixer and The Joint Chiefs Band.

Also on Saturday night we are co-sponsoring an Asian/Non-Asian Lady in Red Party at the Sheraton San Jose. Julia of Your Asian Connection will be hosting that one. Guys, here is your chance to meet that very special Lady in Red (we recommend men wear black).

We are always looking for exciting new party concepts. We do over 100 singles parties a year in the Bay Area, and don't ever want to be stagnant. That's why I am proud to host the Silicon Valley's first-ever Silent Party, Friday, Oct 6, at the Sheraton San Jose. Everyone flirts by writing notes, rather than talking! Should be a lot of fun. After two hours of silence, people can explode with conversation during the Dance Party that follows until 12:30am. Should be quite an experience!
