Singles Parties, June 14-16, 2007

Our first-ever party at the Walnut Creek Marriott on Thursday, June 14, was well-attended and lots of fun! We did our Card Match Game, where you get half of a playing card (e.g. Jack of Diamonds) and try to find your match (someone of the opposite sex who has the other half). Sometimes it's hard to get everyone to play the Mixer Game at our parties, but not at this one! It sure broke down the barriers quickly. We usually don't have Mixer Games at our Dance Parties or our Wine Tasting Parties (the dancing or the wine tasting usually facilitate enough interaction that a Mixer Game is not necessary), but we have found over the 29 years we have been producing singles parties that you have to have something to lubricate social interaction in a room full of strangers. If you play the game, you will meet everyone at the party.

Massive crowd at our Welcome Summer Party at the Golden Gate Yacht Club in SF on Saturday night! No need for a Mixer Game at this party--the dance floor was packed. We co-sponsored the party with Singles Supper Club and Table for Six. Congratulations to Grayling Howell, who won a free membership to Table for Six.

Next week features four singles events. On Tuesday night, June 19 I teach an entertaining seminar on "Looking for Love in All the Right Places," based on my book of the same title, at College of Marin.

On Friday night we have The Singles Charity Ball, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting The Seva Foundation to cure blindness.

Stars Ballroom in Novato is the site for our Marin Singles Party on Saturday night, featuring a free dance lesson and light hors d'oeuvres, plus dancing to all kinds of music with popular DJ Darryl K.

Last year's party at Bargetto Winery in Soquel (just south of Santa Cruz) was so much fun, we're doing it again this coming Sunday. We hope to have the great weather again, so we can enjoy Bargetto's lovely outdoor deck overlooking the Soquel River, plus their delicious wines!

Details about all of our events are at www.ThePartyHotline.com. See you at the parties!

I met someone at the Yacht Club party and we hit it off really well but I did not get a telephone number. And now it's too late to ask. Can we ask you to ask them for a telephone number for us?

I often get requests for my help to communicate with someone met at one of our parties. Alas, they usually only have a first name, which is just about useless. I literally have over 50 Susans on my list, so just about impossible to identify people, unless they have a first and last name.

This all brings up the larger issue of "pinning down your next contact." If you meet someone at a party (or anywhere else, for that matter) and you would like to see them again, ask to see them again at a specific time and a specific place. That's called a DATE, and it's the only you way you are likely to see them again, unless you and they are regulars at my parties.

Thanks for your email. I know I should have got a number at the time, my bad. However, she does have a unique first name and the ladies at the front door were taking guests' names and numbers. I'm happy to pay a premium for the service. Just let me know.
