Singles Parties, Aug 30 - Sept 1, 2007
We started the holiday weekend early on Thursday night, Aug 30, with our first-ever Salsa Party for Young Single Professionals, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. Good crowd.
On Friday night we held our annual Baby Boomers Bash, at Michael's in Mt View. Huge crowd, high energy, lots of new faces!
On Saturday we held our annual Contra Costa Singles Convention. Another big crowd, which was miraculous, considering that very few of our singles from San Francisco and the west Bay showed up, because of the closure of the Bay Bridge.
Representatives from many of the leading singles organizations in the Bay Area spoke and/or exhibited at the convention, including Beachcombers Singles, Wine Socials, LockandKeyMatch, East Bay Speed Dating, LocalDatingEvents.com, Jeannine Kaiser, Dr. Wendy Lyon, Singles of Solano, etc. Thanks to all of our co-sponsors!
Yours truly delivered the Keynote Address on "Looking for Love in All the Right Places," which was well received. I gave everyone the assignment of getting rejected by at least five strangers of the opposite sex during the Dance Party. I am happy to report that no one was able to get five rejections! Everyone was just too friendly and agreeable to reject anyone, so the dance floor was packed all night. If you did not get the chance to hear me speak, I will deliver an expanded version of my keynote on Sunday night, Sept 9, at Santa Rosa Jr College.
Miguel Guidos of Startracks spun the tunes at both the Friday and Saturday night parties. Miguel and his lovely assistant, Alex, put on quite a show!
This coming week we again have three parties, beginning with our annual Napa Singles Mixer, Tuesday, Sept 4, 7-9pm, at Rings at Embassy Suites Hotel. On Thursday we do a Lock & Key Mixer & Dance Party for the first time at Jack London Square in Oakland, at Kimball's Carnivall. Directions: From Hwy 101 Northbound: Exit Freitas Pkwy and at Frontage Road Sign turn right heading east (do NOT veer left onto overpass). Turn left (north) immediately onto Redwood Hwy/frontage road, go two blocks to first light and turn right onto Professional Center Pkwy. At the top of hill, turn right onto Channing, go one block and turn left into lot.
From Hwy 101 Southbound: Exit Freitas Pkwy heading straight toward main intersection (do NOT veer right to merge onto Freitas westbound). Turn left at light onto Freitas Pkwy overpass and stay in left/fast lane which becomes a left turn only lane. Turn left, then a quick left turn onto Redwood Hwy/frontage road, go two blocks to first light and turn right onto Professional Center Pkwy. At the top of hill, turn right onto Channing, go one block and turn left into lot.
