Singles Parties, October 9-13, 2007

It's great to have some rain, after being so dry for so long. But all good things come at a price. The first two of our three parties this week were below average in attendance, partially due to the weather.

Our Tuesday night Single Pet Lovers Party on Oct 9 had the additional problem of a one and a half hour traffic jam leading to the Golden Gate Bridge. Very few of our San Francisco/Peninsula singles attended the party in Sausalito. The roads are slick after the first new rain, and people need to learn to drive slower! The party itself, though more intimate than usual, still was a lot of fun. Many of you have emailed me asking for a Single Pet Lovers Party in your area. I think it went very well, and yes, we will do another, in a different city, probably early in 2008.

Our Wine Tasting Party in SF on Friday night had a bigger problem than the weather. There was a large party (350 singles that night) competing against us, so our turnout was smaller than usual. But there was a good male/female ratio, and lots of interaction. So I judge the party to be a success!

We concluded the weekend with a Young Single Professionals Party at Fiddlers Green in SF. The weather was beautiful, the Mixer Game was fun, the appetizers were plentiful, and a fair number of new singles attended. Hopefully we will return to Fiddlers Green in the future. An excellent venue for a party!

Three more parties this coming week. On Tuesday, Oct 16, we do our first-ever party in Vacaville. We get a fair number of singles from Vacaville, so it's time we bring the party to them! I will give a brief entertaining talk on "Looking for Love in All the RIGHT Places," plus our fun Mixer Game, plus appetizers first hour. Singles of Solano (SOS) is co-sponsoring with us, so we expect a big crowd, weather permitting.

On Friday night we return to one of our most beautiful venues, the Peacock Gap Country Club. This will be our third Lock and Key and Dance Party at Peacock Gap, and we expect it will be as much fun as the past ones. Once again Mike Keating of Grand Slam Mobile DJs will spin the tunes--he always does such a terrific job.

The Grand Finale is our first-ever party at legendary Trader Vic's in SF. We are doing our first-ever Mai Tai Party that night, in honor of Trader Vic, who invented the Mai Tai! Only $4 per Mai Tai tonight. Other drinks are also available, of course. We are partying in the same space as Hillary Clinton did a few months ago, with 300 of her supporters. The bad news is that Hillary will not be attending our Singles Mixer (she's not single!) The good news is that we are only charging $10, not the $2,400 that many of her supporters paid at their party at Trader Vic's!
