Singles Parties, July 18 - 26, 2008

All five of our parties over the past two weeks were well-attended!

  • A Touch of Class, Friday, July 18, at Arthur's in Santa Clara. Despite having produced several parties over the years at Arthur's, I had never been there! Finally I got the opportunity to experience this lovely restaurant. It was a great party, with DJ Mike of Startracks spinning some great tunes.
  • Single Mingle, Monday, July 21, at Vic Stewart's in Walnut Creek. Likewise, I had never been to this restaurant either. I produce 150 parties a year for singles, and I often do not have time to check out new locations. I book them just on the basis of recommendations from people I trust. In this case my good friend Jim Fisher told me that Vic Stewart's was his favorite restaurant, and that it would be a good venue for a singles party. We packed that place to the gills! The appetizers were plentiful and delicious. Lots of new faces.
  • Young Single Professionals Mixer, Tuesday, July 22, at Bong Su in San Francisco. What a great restaurant for a party! It was a tight squeeze, fitting in so many young singles, but that's actually to our advantage. As much as people complain about a crowded venue, it's a lot easier to meet people than a spacious one.
  • Summer in the City Dance, Friday, July 25, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. This was a much larger space, so we had no trouble accommodating the large crowd. It was the perfect night for a waterfront party along the Bay! Warm, mild breeze, great visibility.
  • Marin Singles Dance, Saturday, July 26, at Rings at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. The air conditioning could not keep up with the huge crowd. Fun party, thanks to the great music provided by DJ Darryl K of Mobile Sound & Light.

This coming Thursday, July 31, we are hosting our 3rd Annual Barbary Coast Beer Tasting Party at SF Brewing Company in San Francisco. Only $10 includes tasting their great beers, plus appetizers. The past two years our parties have been jammed! We expect no less this time.

We kick off AUGUST with our largest annual event in the Contra Costa Area on Friday, August 1st, at the Concord Hilton. We begin the evening by segregating the sexes into two halves of the ballroom. Author Susan Bradley will teach the MEN how to meet WOMEN; I will teach the WOMEN how to meet MEN. At 9pm we open up the air wall between the sections and have a giant dance party. As a bonus, two of our singles will be awarded the title of Bay Area Champion Pick-Up Artist, with prizes!

Singles Parties, July 11-13, 2008

3 parties this past weekend:
  • Lock & Key & Dance, Friday, July 11, Pleasanton Marriott. Big crowd! They put a lot of money into remodeling the old Crowne Plaza Hotel. Very nice party.
  • Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, July 12, The Artists Alley, SF. Another big crowd, as always, whenever we do an Art & Wine Tasting in The City. The old Artists Alley was terrific, but this new location is even better!
  • Free Single Travel Party, Sunday, July 13, Sports Basement, SF. Surpisingly small turnout, in contrast to the large turnouts at the three single travel parties we had back in January. Ann Thomas, Director of The Singles Travel Company, hosted the party and reported that there was a lot of interest in the upcoming trips.

Next week features only one Dance Party, Friday, July 18, at Arthur's Restaurant in Santa Clara. It is entitled A TOUCH OF CLASS, so please dress up for this one! A huge crowd attended our last party in this lovely art-deco style restaurant.

Singles Parties, July 3-5, 2008

Only two parties over the 4th of July Weekend:
  • Independence Eve Party, July 3, at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos. What a terrific turnout for a Thursday night party! Most singles don't go away on the 3 day weekend, so it's not surprising to have so many attend the party. Our Live Band, The Joint Chiefs, were terrific, as always.
  • Lock & Key & Dance, July 5, at South First Billiards in San Jose. We had never done a dance party before in a Billiards Hall, so it was a risk. Fortunately, we had a good crowd and the party went well!

Next weekend we have four events:

  • Tri-Valley Lock & Key & Dance, Friday, July 11, at the new Marriott (formerly Crowne Plaza) in Pleasanton. We had a big crowd last year at the Crowne Plaza and hope to do equally well this year at the Marriott.
  • Grand Opening Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, July 12, at The Artists Alley in San Francisco. It's been almost a year since the old Artists Alley, where we have held so many fun parties, closed. We're excited to help open up their new location to the singles community!
  • Free Single Travel Party, Sunday, July 13, at Sports Basement in San Francisco. A great opportunity to meet new friends who love to travel, plus learn how to travel affordably worldwide. Ann Thomas, Director of The Singles Travel Company, will give an entertaining slide presentation. Free admission.
  • Finding a Lasting Relationship Seminar, Sunday, July 13, at Santa Rosa Jr College. This is the class I have presented to tens of thousands of singles worldwide.

Singles Parties, June 25 - 28, 2008

Three very different parties this past week:
  • Financial Freedom for Singles Seminar & Social, Wednesday, June 25, at Sinbad's in San Francisco. Timothy Yee, our Financial Planner, provided food for the mind as well as the body in this wonderful waterfront location. Smaller attendance than usual at his seminars, but people had a good time.
  • Young Single Professionals Party, Friday, June 27, at Zen Lounge in Mountain View. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club (our co-sponsor) hosted this party and reports that there was a good crowd. This was particularly pleasing, since we were competing against another singles party nearby that night, which attracted 400 singles.
  • Blue Jean Ball, Saturday, June 28, at the San Mateo Marriott. No one had ever done a Blue Jean Ball for Singles before, so we didn't know what to expect. Very large crowd, so we will do this one again! I guess our singles enjoyed the opportunity to come more casually (usually we recommend coat & tie/dressy attire for our parties in elegant hotels).

4TH OF JULY WEEKEND features two parties. We always get a good turnout over three day weekends, as most singles stay home and are looking for something fun to do! We expect this to be particularly true this year, as gas is so expensive, and so many people are doing STAYCATIONS, where they stay close to home!

  • Thursday, July 3, at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos. A fun Mixer Game, appetizers for those who arrive on time, the Live Music of The Joint Chiefs, no work tomorrow, only $10 admission. Five ingredients for a big turnout!
  • Saturday, July 5, at South First Billiards & Lounge in San Jose. This is a Lock & Key Party (as well as Dance Party), so it's EASY to meet everyone.
