Parties, Nov 21-25

All 3 of our parties were well-attended this week. The first was on a Tuesday night, Nov 21, at the lovely Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. We lucked out with the weather, a perfectly clear night, with great views of the SF skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay! The only bad note wa the bad male-female ratio. We work hard to get enough men to attend our parties, but this one clearly needed more male energy. The food was terrific.

Our Elegant Evening at the Argent Hotel on Friday, Nov 24, not only had a terrific turnout, but there were plenty of men! Some of our regulars didn't come, thinking it would be a small crowd the day after Thanksgiving. Big mistake. We always get great crowd on holiday weekends. Yes, lots of people are busy or out of town. But the people who stay home are eager to party over a holiday weekend!

We also had a very nice turnout at our Lock & Key & Dance on Saturday at Spin Ultra Lounge in Walnut Creek. People had a lot of fun the first two hours, and the food was terrific. Unfortunately, the DJ started playing late after the Lock & Key Mixer, and his selection of music was not the best. I warned everyone in my email blast and on the website that we had no control over the music--I didn't hire him, the nightclub did--but people were still expecting better. It's tough to find an affordable place for a party in Walnut Creek, where we have a big following, so I had to do it at a place where I could not bring in my own DJ. I won't make this mistake next month, Friday, Dec 29, when I do a Pre-New Year's Party at the Concord Hilton's Golden Gate Ballroom, only a few miles away from Walnut Creek. I promise the DJ will be first-rate at this party!

This coming weekend we only have one party, Friday, December 1st, at the beautiful Pasta Pelican Restaurant in Alameda. Everyone loved our last party there, especially the plentiful and delicious buffet, and the great views of Jack London Square across the water. I will be hiring the DJ at this party, so we are sure to have terrific music! Please wear festive holiday attire.

Happy Holidays!

Parties, Nov 16-18

Our annual Sadie Hawkins Party on Thursday, Nov 16, in Los Gatos was a big hit. Nice turnout, terrific music by The Second Story Men, with the dance floor packed all night.

Friday night's Dinner/Dance in Santa Clara was a fun party, according to Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who co-sponsored with us. I took a rare Friday night off to recharge my batteries. It's tough doing 150 singles parties a year!

Saturday night's Wine Tasting Party with free mini-readings in San Mateo was fun, but there was a lop-sided ratio of women to men. I try to tell the guys that they should come to any party that includes psychics, astrologers, and tarot card readers, but they just don't listen. I can't fathom why men wouldn't want to come to a party that is packed with single women!

We have 10 Holiday Parties for Singles this year! You can usher in the holidays in style the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov 24, at our Elegant Evening at the Argent party at this luxurious 4-diamond hotel. This is an event to dress in your finest!

On Saturday, Nov 25, we host a Lock & Key & Dance Party at a new nightclub in downtown Walnut Creek, Spin Ultra Lounge (formerly Groove). I'm looking forward to our party in this exciting new venue.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Parties, Nov 9-12

Another 5 parties this past weekend! We started the weekend early on Thursday, Nov 9, at a new location for us, the lovely Park Chalet Garden Restaurant, at the the entrance to Golden Gate Party across from the Pacific Ocean in SF. Great crowd! Terrific food. After our fun Mixer Game we enjoyed live music. It was called "surf jazz," something I've never heard of, but it was fun.

Our annual Santa Cruz Singles Convention featured a terrific speaker, Jerusha Stewart, author of The Single Girl's Manisfesta. She did a lot of fun interaction with the audience and got their juices going! Nice dance party afterwards, featuring the music of DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music.

Also on Friday night, we co-sponsored Your Asian Connection's largest event of 2006, at Illusions in Palo Alto. I am waiting for Julia to let me know how that one went.

On Saturday we returned to Lucre Lounge in Berkeley for another great party--this time a Lock & Key. Big crowd, high energy. Greg, from Choice Music, was our DJ for the first time. Very young guy, but he sure knew what songs would pack the dance floor all night!

On Sunday we had a wonderful Wine Tasting Party at Cline Cellars in the Sonoma countryside. 130 singles enjoyed Cline's great wines and bucolic setting. We lucked out with the rain, which didn't start until late Sunday night!

Only 3 singles parties next weekend. On Thursday, Nov 16, we sponsor our annual Sadie Hawkins Party at Number One Broadway in Los Gatos, with live music by The Second Story Band. This is the one day of the year that women can ask for what they want--and get it! Men are NOT allowed to say NO to a woman's request for a dance.

On Friday we co-sponsor a Pre-Holiday Dinner/Dance with Singles Supper Club at Arthur's Restaurant in Santa Clara. It features one of the most popular DJs in the Bay Area, Miguel of Startracks.

We conclude the weekend on Saturday with a Wine Tasting Party at Sacred Paths Bookstore in San Mateo. It includes FREE mini-readings with our professional astrologers, psychics, and tarot card readers (time-permitting, first-come, first-served). Co-sponsored with WineSocials.com.

Parties, November 3-5

What a great weekend! We were 3 for 3 this time with our parties. On Friday, Nov 3, we had a terrific turnout for our Lock & Key & Dance at the San Mateo Marriott. Lovely hotel ballroom, and great DJ (HickeyB! of Choice Music, who is also our DJ next Friday, Nov 10, at the Santa Cruz Singles Convention).

On Saturday we hosted our first Art & Wine Tasting Party at Togonon Art Gallery at Union Square. Great space for a singles party! We are also doing our annual Holiday Art & Wine Tasting Party there on Dec 23.

We concluded the weekend with the first-ever Singles Night at the Marin Symphony. We didn't know what to expect, since it had never been done before. Terrific turnout! Great performance by the symphony,of course, with terrific hors d'oeuvres, wine, and scotch at our exclusive Singles Pre-Party. We will definitely do this one again next year!

Next weekend we are hosting five singles parties. We kickoff early on Thursday, Nov 9, with our Pacific Coast Singles Mixer at Park Chalet Garden Restaurant in SF. We expect a big crowd, since Friday is a federal holiday (Veterans Day). The party is from 7-9pm, so you'll still get home early enough to go to work the next day, if you don't have it off. Only $10 at the door includes not only the great food at this excellent restaurant, but also our fun Mixer, which makes it easy to meet everyone at the party!

On Friday night we have two parties. Our annual Singles Convention is at the Seacliff Inn in Aptos, which is the largest party of the year in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay Area! Jerusha Stewart, author of Single Girl's Manifesta, kicks off the convention, followed by a Dance Party. We hope to attract as large of a crowd as we did at last year's excellent convention, in the same Ballroom, with a great spread of food again!

Also on Friday, Julia Ma of Your Asian Connection is hosting the largest Asian/Non-Asian singles event of the year at the wonderful Illusions Night Club in Palo Alto, where we did our Cinco de Mayo party earlier this year.

On Saturday we return to Lucre Lounge at the Shattuck Hotel in Berkeley with another fun Lock & Key Mixer, followed by a Dance Party with one of our top DJs.

We conclude the weekend fun with our first-ever Wine Tasting Party at one of my favorite wineries, Cline Cellars in Sonoma. What a lovely site for a party, with thousands of rose bushes, 6 ponds, gorgeous trees, and fabulous wines. Only $10 at the door includes our exclusive singles wine tasting in the Barrel Room, plus light hors d'oeuvres the first hour.

Hope to see you at the parties!

Parties, Halloween Weekend

People sure love to celebrate Halloween! Our first three Halloween parties were on Friday and Saturday (Sheraton San Jose, Mill Valley, and Cupertino) and were very well-attended, with high-energy crowds. Our fourth Halloween Party, on Tuesday, Oct 31 (in Aptos) was not as well-attended, but that's what happens on Tuesday nights. A lot of people won't come because they have to get up early for work the next morning.

We have three great parties this coming weekend. On Friday, Nov 3, we have a Lock & Key & Dance Party at the San Mateo Marriott. We haven't done a party at the Marriott since August of last year (400 attended that party), so we expect a big crowd for this one!

On Saturday we do our first ever Art & Wine Tasting Party in the Union Square area of SF, at Togonon Art Gallery. Our last Art & Wine Tasting Party in SF was at Artists Alley (Sept 29) and we had an even balance of men and women. Hope we are lucky again at this one with the male-female ratio. You can never get too many men at an Art & Wine Tasting Party.

The same is true for our first-ever Singles Night at the Marin Symphony, Sunday, Nov 5. We have a lot of single women signed up and are working on getting enough men. Always a challenge! Singles Night includes a special pre-party, just for our singles, featuring free wine, appetizers, and Scotch Malt. Everyone who prepays for the performance of the Marin Symphony at 7:30pm gets free admission to the Singles Party at 6pm.

Hope to see you at the parties!
