Singles Parties, June 19-22, 2008

The weather was terrific this past weekend, which was particularly appreciated, since two of our three parties were outdoors:

• Mid-Life Singles Mixer, Thursday, June 19, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville. Our past parties at Trader Vic's have been indoors, but this time we had our event on their lovely oudoor tiki deck, right on the water. Big crowd, great appetizers, and a fabulous sunset. Plus entertaining brief presentations by Mason Grigsby, co-author of Love at Second Sight: Playing the Midlife Dating Game; and Annie Gleason of Get a Love Life.
• The Singles Prom, Saturday, June 20, in San Francisco. If you have to be indoors for a party, might as well be the luxurious Westin St Francis on Union Square! Congratulations to Arthur Skinner, our Prom King; and Eileen Becchio, our Prom Queen. Thank you to Its Just Lunch, our co-sponsor, who donated free memberships to them. Great party, terrific crowd.
• 3rd Annual Wine Tasting at Bargetto Winery, Soquel (Santa Cruz County). We could not have asked for more pefect weather! We are so lucky that we didn't do the party the previous afternoon, when it would have been stifling. The weather cooled down to a very comfortable temperature . We had another big crowd this year, who enjoyed the spacious deck overlooking Soquel Creek. What a view!

Next week features three more events:

• Financial Freedom for Singles Seminar & Social, Wednesday, June 25, at Sinbad's, next door to the world-famous Ferry Bldg, San Francisco. Timothy R. Yee of Cathedral Financial will give another entertaining seminar, plus a great buffet of delicious appetizers. Free admission!
• Young Single Professionals Party, Friday, June 27, at Zen Lounge in Mountain View. Our younger singles should enjoy this very popular Silicon Valley nightspot!
• Blue Jean Ball, Saturday, June 28, at the San Mateo Marriott. Our first-ever party featuring everyone wearing their finest blue jeans, and dancing to great music in a lovely venue.

Singles Parties, June 12-14, 2008

3 fun parties this past weekend, all radically different:

• Single Cougars Party, Thursday, June 12, at Park Chalet Garden Restaurant, San Francisco. Big crowd, lots of new, attractive faces! Cougars are single women who like younger men. We will definitely do another Cougars party, in a different city!
• Art & Wine Tasting Party, Lucky Friday the 13th, at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato. This is a gorgeous facility, and our singles enjoyed the sneak preview of the PaperWORKS! exhibit.
• Polynesian Tiki Dance, Saturday, June 14, at Trader Vic's in Palo Alto. Fantastic turnout! The dance floor was still packed for the last song at midnight. What a lovely venue! We will definitely do this place again. The only complaint was the parking. With such a huge crowd, the singles who came later in the evening had to a walk a ways. Always best to show up early, so you can get the best parking spot and also enjoy the delicious appetizers.

Next weekend features 3 more fun parties:

• Mid-Life Singles Mixer, Thursday, June 19, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville. If you thought Trader Vic's in Palo Alto was beautiful (see above), you should see this great waterfront location! We have our own private banquet room.
• The Singles Prom, Saturday, June 21, at the world-famous Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square. This is America's first Prom specifically for adult singles. Arrive in style in our free stretch limo! 500 singles attended our last party at the Westin St Francis!
• Singles Wine Tasting at Bargetto Winery, Sunday, June 22, Soquel (Santa Cruz area). Our annual summer wine tasting at this lovely facility overlooking the Soquel River is always well-attended and lots of outdoor fun (if it rains, we move indoors).

Singles Parties, June 3-7, 2008

3 Parties this past week:

• Single Mingle, Tuesday, June 3, at Hunter SteakHouse in Santa Rosa. The small but friendly crowd had a good time. The food was very good.
• Outdoor Wine Tasting Party, Friday, June 6, at California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda. Big crowd, lots of new faces, the weather was perfect, the natural backdrop was gorgeous. We definitely want to do this again!
• Solano Singles Convention, Saturday, June 7, at Courtyard by Marriott in Vallejo. Big crowd, good dance party (thanks to DJ HickeyB! of Choice Music). Entertaining keynote by authors Jerusha Stewart and George Joyce, who were the subjects of feature stories in two daily newspapers, The Vallejo Times Herald and The Fairfield Daily Republic.

We're excited about next week's 3 parties, all very unique for us:

• The Bay Area's first-ever Single Cougars Party will take place on Thursday, June 12, 7pm, at Park Chalet Garden Restaurant, "where the Park meets the Pacific," San Francisco. Cougars are older women who enjoy younger men. This should be quite a party, as featured on KRON4 TV two Sundays ago! Only $10 at the door includes a fun Mixer Game, plus apptizers, plus live music by The Last Hayride.
• Our first-ever Art & Wine Tasting Party at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art takes place on Lucky Friday the 13th of June, 7:30-9:30pm. This is a gorgeous location and features the sneak preview, just for our singles, of the PaperWORKS! Juried Exhibition (works of art featuring paper). The show opens to the public the next day. Should be a big crowd!
• We're thrilled to be doing a Polynesian Tiki Dance at the spectacular Trader Vic's in Palo Alto on Saturday, June 14, 8pm-12. Our co-sponsor, Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, has been trying to schedule a party at this spectacular restaurant, with Tiki decor, for the past 10 years. Finally, we've done it. We recommend coat & tie/dressy attire (not Polynesian attire). If you are unable to attend this party, we are doing a Mid-Life Singles Mixer on Thursday, June 19, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville!

Singles Parties, May 27 - 31, 2008

Four Singles Parties this past week:

• Mid-Life Singles Mixer, Tuesday, May 27, at Captain Blythers in Benicia. Big crowd! Always a surprise to have so many come out on a Tuesday night to a party in tiny Benicia. We got to view the gorgeous sunset from this wonderful restaurant, with panoramic views.
• Financial Planning for Singles Seminar & Party, also on Tuesday, May 27, at Bay Cafe at the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Another big crowd. Timothy R. Yee, the financial planning guru for singles, gave another enlightening talk on "10 Steps to Financial Freedom."
• Wine Tasting & Shopping Party, Friday, May 30, Sports Basement at Potrero Hill in San Francisco. Very disappointing turnout, less than half of the size of last year's party at the same location. Where was everyone?
• Baby Boomers Bash, Saturday, May 31, Concord Hilton. Tremendous crowd! We will definitely do another soon, in a different city, of course.

Next week features three more parties:

• Single Mingle, Tuesday, June 3, Hunter SteakHouse, Santa Rosa. This is our first party in this location. Hope to attract a lot of friendly singles!
• Outdoor Wine Tasting, Friday, June 6, Cal Shakespeare Theater in Orinda. We have our fingers crossed that it will be great weather and a great party! And of course, we're hoping for another thrilling sunset.
• Solano Singles Convention, Saturday, June 7, Courtyard by Marriot, Vallejo. Two daily newspapers, The Vallejo Times Herald and The Fairfield Daily Republic,are doing feature stories around our Keynote Speakers, authors Jerusha Stewart and George Joyce. Their topic: "I Can't Get No... Satisfaction." Ain't it the truth! Singles are always complaining that their romantic relationships are unsatisfying. Find out from the experts how to change your luck! Dance Party follows entertaining presentation.

This morning (Sunday, June 1) I was interviewed live on KRON4 TV, with author Jerusha Stewart (see above) about our upcoming Single Cougars Party, Thursday, June 12, in San Francisco. It was a fun segment. Hope you caught it.
