Singles Parties, October 23-25, 2008

3 parties this past week, all well-attended:

  • Single Cougars Mixer, Thursday, Oct 23, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Golf Course. We were shocked by such a big crowd on a Thursday night in the middle of a recession! Bringing younger men/older women together is controversial to some. I just think it is a fun theme, and obviously a lot you agreed!
  • Art & Wine Tasting Party, Friday, Oct 24, at the lovely new R.R. Art Gallery in San Francisco. This gallery is so new, they don't even have their signs up yet. I'm glad so many of you found it, anyway. A very fun venue for a wine tasting party for singles! If you missed this one, don't panic, because we're holding our largest annual Wine Tasting Event at this gallery on Saturday, December 20. More details soon.
  • Halloween Costume Contest & Dance, Saturday, Oct 25, at Pasta Pelican in Alameda. This waterfront restaurant is a little hard to find at night, but it was well-worth the drive for those who attended. Terrific costumes! Top DJ Miguel of Startracks did a superb job of mixing current hits and oldies. If you missed this one you still have a chance to pull out a fun costume from your closet and celebrate Halloween with us! See below for details.

Next weekend features 3 more singles events:

  • Halloween Costume Contest & Dance, Friday, Oct 31, at Nicolino's in Sunnyvale. Our annual Silicon Valley Halloween Party is always well-attended. Wear a costume if you want to win a prize. Or, if you really want to scare us, come as you are!
  • Fall Night Delight, Saturday, Nov 1, at Rings at Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. Always a big crowd at our special parties at this great hotel. Dance to your favorite hits.
  • The Art of Flirting Seminar, Sunday, Nov 2, at Santa Rosa Jr College. I have taught this fun seminar at dozens of community colleges, and also in hotel ballrooms around the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Singles Parties, October 14-18, 2008

3 parties this past week:
  • Save Your Nest Egg Seminar & Social for Singles, Tuesday, Oct 14, at Massimo's in Fremont. Timothy R Yee of Cathedral Financial reports that he had a good turnout for his entertaining presentation.
  • Young Single Professionals Party, Friday, Oct 17, at Zen Ultra Lounge in Mountain View. Barbara Millin of Singles Supper Club, who co-sponsored this mixer with us, reports an a large crowd attended, and that many stayed after our Singles Mixer to enjoy the dancing.
  • Singles Taxi Dance, Saturday, Oct 18, at the San Mateo Marriott. I hosted this one myself and was delighted with both the good turnout and the enthusiasm level at the party! This was the first time ever that single women were PAID for each dance. I was afraid that the men would balk at having to pay A DIME A DANCE, but not a single complaint!

We have 3 more parties this coming weekend:

  • Single Cougars Mixer, Thursday, Oct 23, at Bay Cafe at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. We did the first-ever Singles Cougar party in the Bay Area a few months ago in San Francisco. By popular request, we are doing the Silicon Valley this time. The last party was featured by KRON4 TV. Any woman who enjoys dating younger men (and vice versa) is invited!
  • Art & Wine Tasting Party, Friday, Oct 24, at the newly opened R.R. Art Gallery near Union Square in San Francisco. Patrick Dalal, of Wine Socials, who is co-sponsored this party, says this is a gorgeous new art gallery!
  • Halloween Costume Party & Dance, Saturday, October 25, at Pasta Pelican Restaurant in Alameda. Last year's Halloween Party at this waterfront restaurant was a blast, so we are doing it again! Terrific view of Jack London Square across the water. If you can't make this Halloween party, we are doing another on Friday, Oct 31 at Nicolino's in Sunnyvale.

Singles Parties, October 9-11, 2008

3 fun parties this past weekend:
  • Our annual Singles Salsa Party, Thursday, Oct 9, at Cafe Cocomo. Another big crowd for a Thursday night!
  • Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Oct 10, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. This is the first time we have been back to this lovely hotel (after several years), so our singles were excited to return. Big enthusiastic crowd!
  • North Bay Singles Convention, Saturday, Oct 11, at the Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. Not as large of a crowd as last year's convention. This is a huge ballroom, so we needed a lot more people to fill it. Hopefully we will get the huge crowd we got at last year's New Year's Eve Party in this ballroom. More details about New Year's Eve coming soon.

3 more events this coming week:

  • Save Your Nest Egg! Seminar & Social for Singles, Tuesday, Oct 14, 7-9pm, at Massimo's Restaurant in Fremont. Such a deal! FREE seminar with Timothy R Yee of Cathedral Financial, plus FREE light pasta buffet.
  • Young Single Professionals Party, Friday, Oct 17, 8pm, at Zen Ultra Lounge. This is for singles who are late 20s to early 40s. Our last party at this lounge was well-attended, when it was called The Buddha Lounge. Still the same fun place!
  • Singles Taxi Dance, Saturday, October 18, 8pm-12, at the San Mateo Marriott. This is the only singles dance in history where the women get paid for each dance!

Singles Parties, October 2 - 4, 2008

I felt a little "snake-bit" at our Waterfront Singles Mixer at Hong Kong East Ocean Restaurant in Emeryville on Thursday, October 2. In recent parties we have been killed by competition from mega-events on TV, such as the Opening of the Olympic Games, Obama and Palin acceptance speeches, and the first Obama-McCain Debate. This time it was the much-anticipated Palin-Biden debate, which attracted huge numbers of viewers and left a small crowd to attend our party. Too bad, because the view and food were great, and those who came had a very nice time meeting new friends.

The next night, Friday, October 3, we did a Young Single Professionals Party at The Cellar in San Francisco. No major competing TV event, so the place was packed.

We concluded the weekend with a smaller-than-anticipated turnout for the Relationships Convention for Singles at the Hilton Newark/Fremont. It's a shame, because it was a huge, gorgeous ballroom, with the high ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and huge dance floor that our singles enjoy so much. Our Keynote Speaker, author Wendy Merrill, gave a memorable address, and DJ Mike from Startracks did an excellent job with the music!

Next weekend features three more parties:
  • Singles Salsa Party, Thursday, Oct 9, at Cafe Cocomo in San Francisco. Should be a big crowd, since this is our annual salsa party, with free salsa dance lesson, 8 piece live salsa band, food, mixer game, etc. for only $10! This is a huge club, so we need a big crowd. SABOR Salsa Singles Meetup is helping us promote this one.
  • Lock & Key Dance, Friday, Oct 10, at Renaissance ClubSport Hotel in Walnut Creek. Our Walnut Creek parties always are a big draw!
  • North Bay Singles Convention, Saturday, Oct 11, at Flamingo Resort Hotel in Santa Rosa. This is the largest annual gathering of romantic eligibles in the North Bay. This year we are GUARANTEEING that everyone who attends will find love in the next 6 months or get their money back! There is a catch, of course: they have to follow at least half of my Top 10 List of the Best Ways to Find Love Quickly, based on my book, You CAN Hurry Love.
