Singles Parties, Feb 19-24, 2008

A busy week, featuring 5 events. On Tuesday, Feb 19 we had a very nice turnout for our Singles Mixer at Circa Restaurant, in the Marina District of San Francisco, despite heavy rain.

The big one for the week was our Lock & Key & Dance at Illusions Night Club in Palo Alto on Friday, Feb 22. Big crowd, dance floor was packed all night. Prior to the party we had an optional progressive dinner that was delicious, as always at Illusions. DJ HickeyB! spun his usual magic, and the superb lights and ambiance of this, the finest night club in the Silicon Valley, made for a great party!

On Saturday night, Feb 23, we had a Wine Tasting & Shopping Party at the giant Sports Basement in Walnut Creek. I was unable to attend, because of a family funeral, but Patrick Dalal and Jim Spillane, I am sure, ran a fine party.

On Sunday night, Feb 24, we had two events. I wish I could have hosted the special Singles Party and Concert at the Marin Symphony, but I was busy that night teaching a seminar on The Art of Flirting at Santa Rosa Jr College. The seminar was lots of fun. Debby reports to me that the Marin Symphony party and performance were well-attended and lots of fun.

Next week we have 3 more singles events. Friday, Feb 29 is Leap Day, and we have two parties that night. Our annual Monterey Bay Singles Convention features an entertaining keynote on "Meet Your Mate in 2008," with "America's Dating Coach," Jeannine Kaiser, followed by dancing to your favorite hits. Originally scheduled for January 4th, the Great Storm that night forced us to postpone until Feb 29. It should be a great night!

Also on Feb 29 we have our Leap Day Party for Young Single Professionals, at Lion and Compass in Sunnyvale. This was the venue for our spectacular New Year's Eve party and once again should be the site for a fun evening!

San Francisco's LARGEST annual singles party is The Singles Charity Ball, Saturday, March 1st, at the world famous Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. This year we are in a larger space, the California Ballroom, so we can accommodate an even larger crowd. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to The Seva Foundation to cure blindness. Hope you can make it--and please spread the word to all of your friends.

Singles Parties, Feb 14-15, 2008

Our two parties this week were opposites, one being small, the other very large.

Not surprising that our Valentines Day Mixer on Feb 14 at the Embassy Suites in Napa was the smaller one. After all, it was a Thursday night, and we usually have to wait for the weekend to attract a big crowd. But being that it was the big day, V-Day, I thought we would attract a much larger crowd. Perhaps singles were embarrassed to go to a Valentines Day party without a date? Doesn't make sense to me, but not everyone in this world is rational...

I thought the idea of celebrating Valentines Day with a Dance the next day (Feb 15) was a silly one. But Jerry Gulick of Beachcomber Singles asked me to set one up on that day, and HE WAS RIGHT. Terrific turnout at the Concord Hilton! You can be sure we'll do a Feb 15 Valentines Dance again! After producing over 2,000 parties for singles over the past 30 years on six continents, I thought I knew something about singles parties. Apparently not...

We have FIVE singles events this coming week. We begin on Tuesday, Feb 19, with another mixer at the luxurious Circa Restaurant in the Marina District of San Francisco. Last year's party was very crowded, and we are hoping for a repeat this time.

We do our first COMBINATION Lock & Key & Dance & Optional Progressive Dinner on Friday, Feb 22, at the giant Illusions Night Club and Restaurant in Palo Alto. Three parties in one! We always have a big crowd at this location, since this is the finest nightclub in the Silicon Valley. You can't miss, with the huge ceilings, great lighting, and gigantic wood dance floor! If you haven't been at one of our Progressive Dinners before, it's a great way to meet people BEFORE the dancing starts, and get to know them over a relaxing dinner. We rotate the tables after each course. This is an excellent Lebanese Restaurant, with delicious entree, salad, dessert, coffee, tax, and tip (all-inclusive) for only an additional $25. The Lock & Key & Dance ONLY are $15/advance or $20/door.

On Saturday, Feb 23, we return to Sports Basement in Walnut Creek for another Wine Tasting & Shopping Party. Our singles had fun last year combining these two very different activities in one party. With great boutique wines, appetizers, and a 20% shopping discount for every item in the store, this is NOT a party to miss!

On Sunday, Feb 24, we have two evening events. The Marin Symphony is having a special party, just for singles, at 6pm, before the concert at 7:30pm, featuring SCREEN GEMS (classical music from some of the great motion pictures). Also on Feb 24, I will be teaching a seminar on THE ART OF FLIRTING at Santa Rosa Jr College.

Singles Parties, Feb 7-9, 2008

The weekend began with a fun Mixer at Faz Restaurant in Danville on Feb 7. Big crowd for a Thursday night! The appetizers were delicious and plentiful (a little spicy, though).

Our Silicon Valley Valentine Dance at Michaels in Mtn View on Feb 8 was also well-attended, as was our Art & Wine Tasting Party in San Francisco on Feb 9. I missed both of these parties because of a funeral/cemetery visit on Friday and celebrating my bithday and that of my wife Debby on Saturday. That's right, we were both born on Feb 9. How's that for kismet? We met at one of my singles parties almost ten years ago! Thank you to Barbara Millin, Patrick Dalal, and Jim Spillane for running these two parties so I could take the weekend off.

Only two parties next week. On Thursday, Feb 14 we have our annual Valentine's Day Mixer. This year it is at the lovely Embassy Suites Hotel in Napa. This is our first Napa party in a long time, so we expect good response, since there aren't a lot of options for Napa Valley Singles!

On Friday, Feb 15, we have a Valentine Dance at the Concord Hilton's Ballroom. I know, it's the day after Valentines Day, but we couldn't get all eight of our Meet Your Valentine parties in before Valentines Day! Hope you can attend.

Singles Parties, Jan 29-Feb 2, 2008

Our 3 parties this past week all went well. Despite the bad weather cycle, our party Tuesday night, Jan 29 in Sausalito still had the great view of the SF Skyline. We always seem to luck out at The Spinnaker with the weather!

Our annual Meet Your Valentine Convention in the East Bay, Friday, Feb 1st, was very well-attended. Author Teresa Ann Foxworthy gave an inspiring keynote, and the dance floor was packed all night!

We concluded the weekend with our North Bay Valentine Dance on Saturday, Feb 2 at Graziano's in Petaluma. What a lovely spot for a party! A surprisingly large number of hearty souls braved the storm and attended. There were some terrific dancers at the party!

Next weekend features 3 more Meet Your Valentine parties, beginning on Thursday, Feb 7 with our Singles Mixer at the lovely Faz Restaurant in Danville, with our fun Mixer Game, appetizers, and live music.

THE BIG ONE will be on Friday, Feb 8 at Michael's at Shoreline Park in Mtn View. Always a terrific turnout at this venue. DJ Miguel of Startracks will spin his usual magic.

The weekend concludes with our Valentine Art & Wine Tasting Party, Saturday, Feb 9, at California Modern Art Gallery in SF. Our last party at Cal Modern (Dec 22) attracted 200 wine and fun-loving singles!
